Nothing. None of the experts who reviewed it raised a problem.

    What the gurus are saying

This mask delivers the same soft, glowy finish as Glow Recipe at about one-sixth the price, with nearly identical formulas except for the missing seaweed. Both leave skin equally glowy without peeling, making this a solid value alternative for people who love that overnight texture. Not all experts find Glow Recipe compelling, though, so this is ideal mainly if you're already sold on that approach.

"Everybody wants to be like glow recipe except Glow Recipe is kind of lame."

"I honestly feel like these are so similar and this is an excellent dupe for Glow Recipe. When it first goes on, it kind of feels a little bit more liquidy, but it leaves my skin just as soft. Neither of them peel up, both leave my skin just as glowy. The ingredients are almost the same except for that seaweed. This really is a fantastic dupe, especially if you're looking at the logistics of it. If you can get your hands on this, this is an absolute dupe for the Glow Recipe. It is fantastic, it is slightly less bougie but it gets the job done. And if you are an avid addict of this but it's hurting you in the wallet, this is the way to go. For the price it's literally $6.99 versus $45, I can't not recommend it. Both leave my skin just as glowy, and if you're trying to save money, this is the way to go."

"This is the Watermelon Overnight Face Mask that yes, you can use as a moisturizer or an overnight mask. This is legit a straightup dupe for Glow Recipe. The main ingredient difference is that this one doesn't have seaweed, but they both have hyaluronic acid. They both have exfoliating acids. They both have AHAs. They both have fruit and watermelon extracts. Extremely extremely similar in both the way they smell, the way they feel, and the way they look on the skin."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

    Source: DermNet

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
