"For $5 you can't go wrong, especially with this texture and the ingredients. I think it's a great steal. It adds shine and helps with conditioning and moisturization, and it also offers heat protection. If [...] I'm needing a little bit of additional protection before I curl or straighten my hair, this type of hair serum can really offer [...] that. Not only are you getting additional nourishment to your hair, but you're also getting that heat protection. Ingredient-wise, it contains shea butter and coconut oil, argan oil, and vitamin E along with plant-derived extracts that are rich in vitamins and antioxidants to support your hair throughout the day and protect it against environmental stresses. It's pretty lightweight, at least for my hair, so I can easily just throw it into my hair care routine in between hair washing to keep my hair feeling soft and shiny."

"I decided to buy the Trader Joe's Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Serum and give it a go. This is not as good as the Function of Beauty one. I can't tell that it does anything. I think it's more helpful if you've got frizzy hair, maybe it helps with that, maybe if you have curly hair it might help tame the curl pattern, but for me it just doesn't do anything. If I put it on wet hair it makes my hair smell like coconut, which I like, but the following morning when my hair is completely dry it's like I don't even have anything on there. As a matter of fact I almost kind of think it made my hair ever so slightly a bit more static prone. I've tried it on dry hair too, and it doesn't really, at least for my hair type it kind of just looks greasy."
