What the gurus are saying

Gurus agree Thermage effectively tightens skin and requires less frequent sessions than some competing treatments, with results sustainable over 8-12 months. The main concern is unintended fat loss in facial areas like cheeks where volume loss is undesirable, though this risk varies depending on treatment protocol. The consensus leans toward cautious optimization: the treatment works, but careful placement and conservative settings matter to avoid unwanted contouring effects.

"Thermage is designed to do every 8 months to a year, whereas things like oligio you can go every 3 months if you do like shrink or any hu lasers you can pretty much go like every 1 to two months."

"We have radio frequency heat which is basically a variation of a theme that is delivered to your skin without breaking the surface of your skin like Thermage. These are all treatments that help to tighten whether radio frequency or ultrasound whether you micro needle married to radio frequency or not, they're all variations of a theme. Just the right amount, everything in moderation, slight consistency over intensity over time can make a difference."

"I published one of the first papers many years ago that showed fat loss by Thermage treatments and some of my patients way back then they would undergo a Thermage treatment and that Thermage would not only tighten up their skin but it would cause their face to look thinner afterwards. Supposedly those protocols have been changed a long time ago and that isn't so much of an issue anymore but I still have patients who undergo treatments with old style Thermage and even now they tell me that their face looks thinner after these procedures are done. So buy or beware if you're going to get skin tightening treatments utilizing some type of heat-based treatment like Thermage, you may want to be careful with parts of the face like the cheeks in which you don't want to lose volume. Usually it's not a big issue with the neck, most people don't mind getting rid of a little bit of fat there, but be very careful with the upper part of the face."
