What the gurus are saying

Its lightweight texture stands out to gurus as the reason it works across skin types and seasons, even on combination and oily skin in summer heat. The oil's fatty acid profile, particularly linoleic acid, earns praise for barrier support and anti-aging benefits, and it plays well with actives like retinol and azelaic acid at night. Those new to facial oils may want to start by mixing a drop or two with another oil to ease into the texture.

"Rose hip oil is mixed into Stratia Lipid Gold as a lighter option for summer. It has a really good fatty acid profile particularly high in linoleic acid."

How I Get a Warm Summer Glow Without Sun Damage (GRWM Skincare + Makeup)
"The Ordinary Rose Hip Oil. I do love oil in my skincare routine. I do have combination skin. It leans oily in the summer, but I have just found for whatever reason, my unique skin does amazing with some oil. This particular one has a really good fatty acid profile. It's great for strengthening your skin barrier, but it has a really nice lighter texture to it. It's not a really heavy dense oil. So, this actually is one of my favorite facial oils to use in hot weather."

"I think the Rose Hip Seed Oil by The Ordinary is a really nice alternative. It's already super affordable. The Ordinary one is also super super affordable if you want to use that Rose Hip Seed Oil. It's another great oil to use alongside castor oil. Any of these will do, but use an oil with a thinner viscosity, which is going to help thin out that castor oil, just make for a better application."

Ultimate CASTOR OIL Hack (It Works) - HOW TO USE CASTOR OIL FOR FACE
"The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil is one of my personal favorites. It's thinner, which helps to take away some of that thick sticky texture. You can put two drops of each in the palm of your hand, work it through to warm it up, and then apply it to the skin so much nicer, feels more elegant. You're also going to get some additional benefit from that Rose Hip Seed Oil which is also anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-acne. The two work really really well together. If you're new to facial oils, I'd recommend getting the rose hip seed from The Ordinary and mixing it with castor oil for the best experience."

"If you have sensitivity and you want a little bit more nourishment to that skin barrier and you want to reduce the sensitivity while in your nighttime routine before you apply the azelaic acid, you can use rose hip oil which is fantastic for rosacea. I'm a big fan of oils. You just have to make sure that you're not acne prone within the area and it's more that you've just got kind of sensitivity. You could cleanse the skin, you could use the oil, and then you can use the azelaic acid over the top and you should be absolutely fine."
