What the gurus are saying

Gurus consistently criticize The Ordinary's mineral sunscreen formula, citing poor blendability and a heavy white cast that persists across skin tones. The recurring complaint is that the formula feels thick and difficult to work with. Reviewers express frustration that The Ordinary seems unable to execute sunscreen effectively, especially given the brand's strength in other categories. Community consensus is thin so far, limited to critical takes.

"I have no interest in even trying this formula because it's a chemical-based. And I don't use chemical sunscreens. I only use mineral. And I know they used to have two mineral formulations that they discontinued many years ago and those were flops. Honestly, they were so thick and hard to blend into the skin and left a pretty white cast on the skin no matter what skin tone you had. And then to have found out that they released this and a chemical formulation, I thought they could have done better. Maybe something that is tinted, a better mineral formulation."

"The Ordinary don't know how to make sunscreens. That was my thinking when I tried the first Ordinary sunscreen back in 2018-19. The mineral sunscreen and I hated every bit of it. And by that time remember ki mujhe Ordinary ke kaafi products already pasand aa gaye the. I was a kind of a fan of The Ordinary. And when I tried their sunscreen I was like they have messed it up. This should never make it again."
