What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise this oil as a genuine dupe for luxury marula formulas at a fraction of the price, making it an excellent value for those seeking an occlusive layer to lock in moisture. It works well for dry skin and sensitive skin types, though those with combination or acne-prone skin may want to skip it or use it selectively at night. Beyond facial care, experts note it doubles as an effective pre-shampoo treatment for hair and a nourishing option for nails and body.

"The marula oil from both of them, both wonderful, can't tell the difference."

"The Ordinary Marula Oil is a cold pressed formula and it is fabulous. Marula oil is ideal if you have dry skin. If you're someone with combination skin or acne prone skin, I'm not going to recommend facial oils. If you're looking for a dupe for the Drunk Elephant marula oil, you can definitely get The Ordinary Marula Oil and you don't have to spend a lot on it."

"I actually like this one from the Ordinary because it's at such a good price point compared to the Drunk Elephant marula oil which is marketed as like a luxury marula but they're exactly the same thing and it's at a great price point so you can use this in the nighttime you might not want to use it during the daytime but you can if you're going to be wanting glass skin you can use this in your regime at the end instead of the SPF at nighttime."

"Marula oil is one that I absolutely love. Both squalene and marula oil, you can buy from The Ordinary, they're not that expensive, and it's just a great last step your skin will thank you the following day."

"The Ordinary literally packaged the exact same marula oil from the exact same manufacturer into the Ordinary bottle and sells it for $10 in a recyclable bottle. This is the exact same oil literally from the same manufacturer and it works extremely extremely well. If you wanted to get the marula oil for literally a seventh of the price, the Ordinary would be the way to go. It's a nice lightweight oil, but I really love it for the hair and for the nails or even for the bath and for the body."

"Marula oil is a heavier oil. I've been really into pre-treating my hair with oil before I shampoo lately to reduce frizz, increase shine and manageability, and it's actually been giving me a lot more body because I'm really protecting that hair before I go into the shower. If you have really fine hair you want to do maybe a few more drops of the squalane and maybe one of the marula. If you have thick hair that's really damaged, go for the marula oil, put some in a little bit of it before you wash your hair and your hair will come out so much softer and more manageable. I think keeping these around in your cabinet is great because they're great for skin care, hair care, and nail care."
