What the gurus are saying

This exfoliant delivers real strength, gurus find it potent and effective at resurfacing. The texture is silky and gel-like, similar to pricier alternatives. One note: it needs a straightforward routine to shine, so cleanse, apply the serum, and follow with moisturizer without layering other actives on top.

"Jury's still out on this. It could be because of recency bias that I like [...] the Sunday Riley more, but I haven't even given this a fair chance. You put this on and then you follow up with your moisturizer. I wouldn't use anything else. When I do this exfoliant, I cleanse, I put this on, and then I put on my moisturizer. I particularly love chemical exfoliants just because it's easy. It's like, let me just slap this on. It's one step."

"I've got The Ordinary Honey Glow 17% resurfacing serum. This one is strong. I've used a lot of exfoliants, I've used a lot of retinoids, I've used a lot of strong actives and I've done a lot of treatments, and this is strong. It's got a 17% blend of glycolic, lactic, willow bark, and gluconolactone. So it's maybe not something you want to use on your daily, but two or three times a week for skin that's already exposed or been used to exfoliants, it's worth trying. But it is strong."

Better Than The Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Resurfacing Glycolic Night Serum - Dupes & Alternatives
"It is the second most expensive one but I'm really enjoying it. [...] The texture of this is most similar to the Drunk Elephant, it's got kind of almost a gelatinous, creamy texture. This one's got a 17% blend which might sound crazy high for a non-rinse-off serum, but they used some more gentle alternatives for certain exfoliants. In here I've got 17% blend of glycolic acid, lactic acid, and then willow bark extract, which is the gentler derivative to salicylic acid."
