What the gurus are saying

Gurus view The Body Shop as an outdated brand that has failed to evolve with the market and lacks relevance compared to modern alternatives. A major concern is the MLM structure of many franchises, which reviewers flag as exploitative and predatory to employees. The overall consensus is that the brand feels dated and unnecessary in today's competitive landscape.

"The Body Shop is one of those brands where it feels like they haven't caught up with the times. It gives Avon, right? Like, yeah, you're still around and maybe a certain generation of people use you, but that's the same audience that still use Avon. The Body Shop is something where I think if it went, not a lot of us would miss it. A few of us would be like, oh, I remember The Body Shop. And then be like, oh, well, there's other options."

"My biggest issue with them is that they're an MLM. A lot of their branches are, and do some research on MLMs because MLMs are very insidiously evil to the people working for them. Most people at MLMs will never make any money, and most people actually lose money on the MLMs because most of them require you to purchase a base amount of product to sell, and that's how they make the money. It's a very predatory industry."
