What the gurus are saying

Gurus split on whether this balm justifies its price. One enthusiast calls it the most effective cleansing balm she's tried and repurchases regularly, praising its efficiency and suitability for sensitive skin. Others find it competent but average, it cleanses adequately and the built-in scoop and compact design are convenient for travel, but the rinse isn't flawless and the cost feels steep for what amounts to a standard formula. The consensus leans toward 'nice but not necessary' unless you prioritize minimal product waste or a gentle, fragrance-free first cleanse.

"Tatcha Indigo Cleansing Balm, this stuff was okay. I'm glad I didn't buy the full size because the full size of it was really expensive and it was just kind of average to me. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love love it."

"I've just been using this a lot, I'm more than halfway through with it. I especially love that it has this little scoop that is just built into it. It's especially easy to travel with because it's like kind of compact but you get a decent amount of cleansing balm into it, and it has this, you know, it's just so nifty, everything about it. It is fragrance-free. It's a pretty standard cleansing balm, so some people might find it to be expensive. I apply it to my skin while it's dry to break down the makeup and sunscreen and the grime, then I wet it, emulsify it a little bit, and rinse it."

EMPTIES! Reviewing the Skincare, Makeup, & Body Care Products I've Finished | Beauty with Susan Yara
"I wouldn't say I'd love this cleansing balm but it's a really fine cleansing balm. It doesn't have any fragrance. It comes with a little disc in the cap that makes it really easy to scoop out. It's a really nice fine cleansing balm, it's a little bit boring, it doesn't rinse beautifully but if you go in with your second cleanse it doesn't matter. I found that this container was easy to travel with, that was probably the biggest reason why I continued to use it is I could throw it into my travel bag and it was really just easy to take around."

"I've been using the Tatcha Indigo Cleansing Balm. The thing I like about this most is one, I love this little disc in here that helps you scoop up the cleansing balm. It's fragrance-free and it's really soothing for the skin because it's part of the Indigo collection that Tatcha has. I've been enjoying this, it's a really nice cleansing balm."

"This is the most effective cleansing balm that I have ever used. You really don't need a lot, so even though this probably has half as much product as the other one, it took me the same amount of time to go through it. As soon as I opened this, I don't think I touched another first cleansing step until this was completely gone. I've already repurchased another one because it is so so good. If you have sensitive skin, I think this is an amazing cleansing balm. It's incredibly effective so you don't have to push really hard or really rub or scrub at your eyelid skin, which is really nice. It also doesn't have any fragrance. It's calming, like all of the things you would hope for in a cleansing balm the Tatcha one has. It is a little pricier, it's definitely a little bit more of an investment, but if you don't like washing your face and you feel like that's such a chore, this makes it so effortless. It is incredible. I feel like if I could only use one first cleansing step for the rest of my life based on all the products I've ever tried, it'd be this one."
