What the gurus are saying

The gurus who loved it praise how well it hydrates and brightens the under-eye, with a creamy formula that goes on smoothly and doesn't require much product. However, one expert flags two real concerns: the $67 price point and the presence of fragrance in the formula, which matters because the under-eye skin is sensitive and there are comparable options at lower cost without added scent. Those prone to milia may want to patch-test first, though one reviewer with milia-prone skin had no trouble with it.

"I have to admit I'm going to be using this, the Tatcha eye cream. It's a nice creamy hydrating formula. I'm almost down to the bottom of this and in the evening I'm going to be introducing a substitute. This will be my morning eye cream."

"My absolute favorite Sephora eye cream is the one by Tatcha. It's a bit luxury but I absolutely love it. It's a cream formula which some people worry about getting milia, and I am prone to milia, but I haven't had a problem using this. It just brightens up the under eye, it's super hydrating. I put it in about the third step of my skincare routine and then go on with the rest of my serums while that kind of soaks in."

"Tatcha is one of those brands that I've always felt iffy about. The experience is very luxurious, it feels so nice on the skin, it really is lovely, but between the price points and the added fragrance in the products, it is just too luxurious for my taste. And I feel like there's lots of comparable Japanese skincare products that deliver similar results and experiences, definitely similar Korean skincare products for a much more affordable price. The eye cream is $67, which is expensive. It has parfum fragrance in it, and that's a big issue I have with Tatcha, especially for an under-eye product, because the under-eyes are so sensitive to begin with. You don't want to be really messing with them, and there's just a lot of comparable products out there, so I don't really get the hype."
