What the gurus are saying

Gurus largely praise the cream's hydrating texture, dewy finish, and luxe packaging, especially for dry to mature skin. The recurring knock is the price tag paired with fairly common ingredients available cheaper elsewhere. A notable split emerges around fragrance: some appreciate the subtle scent, while others with fragrance sensitivity report significant irritation from the essential oils and synthetic fragrance compounds, with concerns raised about potential hyperpigmentation triggers. A few also flag denatured alcohol as problematic for sensitive skin.

"Everything about this cream is light. It's fluffy. But it does pack some really nice silky moisture into it as well. But $72 is a lot of money. Not super impressive in the ingredients. Not bad, but not super impressive. Especially if you're well-versed in K beauty and J beauty products, you can get these ingredients at a fraction of the cost. And the texture is lovely, but it's not the only moisturizer out there that can serve you this type of experience."

"It melts into the skin and it's definitely on the lighter medium side. This is not a hefty cream but it just melts into the skin and it leaves your skin so conditioned, so soft on top. It is incredibly appealing. The texture is so fun, absolutely really spectacular. But the ingredients themselves are fairly common to me. Nothing that really blows my mind. They're all fantastic ingredients, but as far as availability in less expensive products, there's so many out there where you can get these wonderful extracts. The fact that the smell is so incredibly subtle I think is great, but it does make me question why we have to use artificial fragrance and fragrant compounds which do have that high potential for irritation. This cream makes me very itchy. My skin does not like those fragrant compounds because they are so concentrated and they are derived from essential oils, so they just tend to be very potent. The irritants tend to be very potent on my skin and this makes my skin very itchy. Unfortunately, the texture's so lovely, I want to like play with it, I want to love it, but my skin cannot accept this."

"I think it's really nice. It's got a really beautiful marshmallowy texture, very impressive, beautiful packaging. The experience of this cannot be denied, and that's what a lot of what you're paying for. I think that Tatcha really delivers on that. But I don't find anything mindblowing about the formulation here. I personally have a sensitivity to fragrance, and while I can appreciate the scent, my skin doesn't appreciate what it does once it is in contact with my skin. Also have to mention a little bit of drying denatured alcohol in this as well, so not suitable for sensitive folks. Not my personal favorite."

"Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream contains essential oils. Now, I know they smell like a five-star spa, but essential oils in leave on products are sneaky triggers for PIH, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Essential oils are an irritant. They're allergens. And when that happens, inflammation takes place. And when inflammation takes place, hyperpigmentation can take place. Why would you even risk it?"

"The Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream is really hydrating, leaves your skin really dewy and glowy. It's really good for that dry mature skin looking for a little extra nourishment. It helps plump and smooth skin over time. The key ingredients here are the Japanese purple rice, the hyaluronic acid, and the algae extract."

"The Dewy Skin Cream has a certain window depending on what the weather is like, in which way I can wear it because it does have, as the name denotes, a dewy finish. And sometimes dewy can read a little much when you already have oily skin. But I'm still going to get this one because it's a smaller bottle. There's a certain kind of window and then I could also wear it at night as well as my nighttime moisturizer."

"The Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream is a good moisturizer that's better suited for drier skin types. It does leave you with a nice dewy finish. As somebody with oily skin, I got a certain window in the winter time when I could wear something like that where it's not going to be too much, but it also makes for an amazing night cream as well."

"Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand. I gifted myself the Dewy Skin Cream about six years ago and it was one of the products that I just felt was super luxury and I would not buy on a regular basis, but it has the most beautiful packaging and it just made me feel so special. This is perfect for that special person in your life that loves skincare but doesn't indulge in luxury products for themselves. It comes with a little spatula which is just so pretty and the boxes they come in are amazing, they're just so perfect for gifting. The Dewy Skin Cream is great for dry to very dry skin."

"One of my longtime favorite moisturizers from Sephora is the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. It's replenishing, it's plumping, it's got the antioxidant-rich Japanese purple rice which contains anthocyanins, which is a really potent antioxidant to help with UV damage. It also helps with pollution and skin stress. I put a little bit of it on in the morning under one of my sunscreens and then in the evening I put a thicker layer after I'm done with all my skin treatments, and it just seals everything in. It's a beautiful moisturizer for the cooler months. It's one of my favorites, and I've used it for years and it's one of my all-time faves."

"This cream has a whipped formula, so it's like a lightweight moisturizer that sinks into your skin beautifully. It's ideal for those with normal to dry or very dry skin. The special thing about this cream is that it nourishes and deeply moisturizes your skin so much that you wake up every day with the most glassy-looking, well-hydrated skin. The fragrance uses linalool and limonene, which I completely dislike, but they're present in very small amounts, so it's very mildly scented. It's not a strong fragrance; in fact, the fragrance is very beautiful. However, I want to mention this because if you don't like fragrance or are allergic to it, there's no point in buying such an expensive cream."

"Really beautiful hydrating formula, definitely something I is my go-to when my skin is extremely dry. This is also my go-to during the winter months, summer months not so much, definitely not in the day. Very very hydrating formula. It is a bit pricey but it is great. This is an eight on ten product from me from Tatcha."

"I finished up a little baby sample of the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream which I got when I finished up in El Salvador on my trip. I love finishing up these little samples, although for what's in here, this thing is big. I mean it takes up a lot of space in your luggage and it's kind of heavy."

"This is so nice, so thick in a good way and so hydrating. This is probably the first moisturizer that's made me think if I stop using my other butter, this might be the replacement. I love my butter but it's really freaking expensive. This is that good. If you haven't tried this and you have dry, dehydrated, older skin, it's worth it. I think this was 14 bucks for the small thing, worth every freaking penny."

"This is probably my new favorite moisturizer. It is buttery soft, it is deeply hydrating. It's something that feels thick but it doesn't feel thick at all. It is absolutely heavenly. It is packed full of all the good stuff, the antioxidants, the hydrators. It has soothing ingredients. It's got everything in it that your skin needs and it feels so good and it leaves your skin so plump. It makes you feel refreshed, it makes my skin glow. It is gorgeous."

"That Tatcha moisturizer is a fantastic moisturizer, no notes. I think all skin types can benefit from a nice rich moisturizer in their nighttime routine. Even people that have oily acne prone skin can use it. Your skin needs that nourishment. I always believe this, even if you're unbelievably oily, use a richer moisturizer at night and see how your skin does after a month. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised because I think most people can benefit from a thick, nice moisturizer."

"My favorite base are the Tatcha Water Cream and then the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. I use both of them. I usually use the water cream all over my face as my moisturizer and then I'll use the Dewy Cream sometimes like as a second layer, depends on how dry my skin has been, but at the very least I will focus that in more dry areas. I also always super hydrate underneath my eyes because obviously you can see dark circles, that's where I need a lot of coverage. So all the areas I need a lot of coverage and dry areas I want to make sure that they are sufficiently moisturized. I also really like using the Dewy Skin Cream on my lips to moisturize."

Super dry, post treatment skin that is sooo rude to your makeup
"I typically use this just underneath my eyes, but I'm going to put a glob of it on that spot because it is so irritated and dry. These are like the little steps that are going to make a huge difference when you are trying to conceal that under my eyes. It is very very thick around the edges, but right on top of that spot I'm just going to pat it, and you can actually see it looks way less red and irritated. There's still a bump there but it's feeling a lot more hydrated."
I'm here to teach you how I make my makeup look like skinnn
"I moisturized I used Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream, the light one, the pore one, for my moisturizer. You need to prep your skin if your skin is dry and flaky in certain areas, then your makeup is going to be dry and flaky in those areas too. If you have an area of your face that has broken out and is super irritated, hydrate it, and what I mean is put your heaviest moisturizer on it first thing when you wake up in the morning. It might feel counterintuitive because you're like it's a breakout I can't put moisture on this, but if you want it to look good with makeup on it you gotta do this step. You have to. Super hydrating any of those areas that are ridiculously dry or you're going to really really cover, you have to do it, you have to do it."

"I went in with my Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream underneath and around my eyes and then I popped a little bit in some slightly drier areas of my face. These are very expensive so I use them when I'm doing a full face of makeup or when I have a special occasion. It's my favorite base for makeup."
If y’all need a go to makeup look THIS is the one. Just sayin.

"I use the Dewy skin cream just to hydrate underneath my eyes for like extra moisture because that's an area that needs a lot of coverage so I just need that hydration there. When I do my makeup they create the most beautiful base, the most beautiful base. I just love it so much. They're so expensive and I am not using them every single day, but when I do my makeup, I use them essentially as primers for my makeup, it's my skin prep for makeup. If you've been coveting these top moisturizers for like a super hydrated beautiful makeup look, I highly recommend it."
How to choose the RIGHT foundation formula for your skin type
"Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream is real thick and real moisturizing. If I use this as a moisturizer every day I would probably end up breaking out more because it's just very very heavy. If you have extremely dry skin and you don't have a problem with congestion you could give it a shot. Personally I think that it's divine. It is extremely hydrating and silky feeling. It does create a waxy kind of barrier on the skin that just makes makeup look beautiful. But this is something that when I do use it I pretty much will only use it underneath my eyes because I need more hydration in that area, and I will not just go straight in with my concealer afterwards. I will allow it to sufficiently sink in."

"There's some sort of sorcery going on with the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. This stuff is incredible. It's not only good for underneath makeup, but there's something magical that happens when you wear this and you put makeup on top. It is such a rich, actually very very dewy cream, but somehow it keeps my skin balanced. If you want that dewy look but you don't want your skin to go oily, I don't know what happens here, but any makeup that I apply on top of this just looks phenomenal. At the end of the day, especially if you're going to be wearing powders and things like that, it just melts the powders into the skin. There's something really special about that formula that I can't get enough of."

"I am using the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream and it is amazing. This is one of the best moisturizers on the market at this point, to be completely honest with you. I am in love with this moisturizer. It is everything. I highly recommend this for morning use, night use. It really moisturizes the skin and, like I said, it is everything. I cannot stress that enough."
