What the gurus are saying

The thick texture divides reviewers sharply: some find it builds beautifully to full coverage while looking skin-like when applied sparingly with fingers, and praise its reliability for under-eye discoloration, but others see it as overhyped and no different from any drugstore full-coverage option. The applicator's design frustrates some users with messy leaking, and a few worry the formula may feel heavy or trigger sensitivity in breakout-prone skin, so those with irritated or acne-prone complexions may want to patch-test first.

"I want to use my Tarte Shape Tape today. Isn't that so funny that this is like back in my routine? But we only want a tiny bit. We do not do the 2016 triangles anymore. No. No. That'll make you hate this concealer. But if you go in with just the right amount, it's actually so nice. The smell of this is so iconic. It makes a really good eyelid concealer because it kind of dries down and self sets a little."

My Unexpected FAVORITES from Last Month!!
"It has good coverage, kind of like the Tarte Shape Tape. This is a little more thin, and it actually looks a little more skin-like, I feel, than Tarte Shape Tape, which I recently fell back in love with. I've been loving Shape Tape as well all over again. Just way less than I used to use in 2016."
The PERFECT Spring Makeup 🌸
"I know this is kind of like a little bit counterintuitive because this is technically a thicker formula, but hear me out. I've been loving this all over again. It's thicker, but if you use a little bit less, way less than what we used to use when we were in 2016, it looks so nice. You could also just like pat that in with your fingers if you wanted to. You could also apply this with your fingers. I've done it before if you were really in a pinch and just kind of like slap it on like a moisturizer, which is always so nice."

"I just applied my Tarte concealer, the creaseless creamy concealer. My current favorite."
Doing My Makeup Like It's 2016 🥹 (haha this is a fun one)
"Tarte Shape Tape is a little heavy for my personal taste, but remember I did apply it more than I would today."
10 YEARS!! 😭 Don't miss this one!! 📹
"I actually really love this formula. It's been something that I've more recently incorporated back into my routine. I obviously do not use nearly as much as I did back in 2016, but it's a good formula."
The Tutorial You BEGGED Me For!! (My TikTok Live Makeup)
"I really love how both of these wear under my eyes. I took the Tarte one to brighten so I took just a tiny bit of that and I kind of plopped that a little bit higher underneath the eyes."
Why did I ever stop using this? 🤯 (January Favorites)
"I think I love it because the coverage is so great. So you can use the smallest amount and it will look skin-like, but it'll give a little bit of an airbrushed finish, which I really love. And it still brightens the under eye even though I'm using the tiniest amount. The shade 20B light is like a perfect match for either my under eye or even blemishes if I want to cover any blemishes up. I've also loved to kind of pat it on the center of the chin just to kind of highlight things, and then I'll take what's left and kind of tap it into the forehead as well. It is such a nice little concealer."
I LOVE how this look turned out!! 😍 Keep using what you have!!
"I have been using Tarte Shape Tape because the last video I posted was the 2016 tutorial and I've just wanted to like see how it would be using an amount that's not insane the way that we used to in 2016. And I've actually been liking it."

"The elf camo concealers are very similar to the Tarte concealers however the shade range is very weird. That's something to keep in mind if you are someone who has a niche that you're looking for that is very difficult to find, you may need to spend a little bit more to find the correct product."

"I have the Tarte creaseless concealer which is really nice if I want something with a little bit more coverage. It's waterproof and it's actually a really nice formula, and I like it for travel."

"I will never understand the hype around Shape Tape. It is just a regular concealer. It's just a regular, like, kind of full coverage. Like, there's nothing, to me, there's nothing special about it. I think it's severely overhyped, like one of the most overhyped products I've ever tried in my life. I remember trying it for the first time, and I was really expecting something crazy, like perhaps it was gonna really smooth out my under eyes. It was gonna look blurry, filtered, like nothing I ever tried before. The way it was so hyped up. And I tried it for the first time. It was just normal. It was a regular concealer. Didn't do that. Didn't do that. It would brighten had I chosen a different shade. But it wasn't like, oh, my under eyes. I didn't experience the magic that everyone was, like, gagging over."

Why Tarte Is Tone-Deaf | The brand that needs to keep apologising!
"I personally didn't like it. I didn't see what all the hype was about. It was just like any regular concealer that was full coverage. There are better concealers out there for full coverage options."
This BIG BRAND is scamming their customers! | Mecca Max
"This is the Tarte Shape Tape retailing for $51. Mechamax 5 mils, Tarte 10 mils for the same amount of MLS as the Shape Tape. This now becomes $48, $3 difference for a significantly better formula."

"Another iconic product that's going to be a no is Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but are we surprised? Because it's so thick, of course it's going to break you out."

"I have been using this non-stop since November and I think that this is the perfect concealer if you're looking for something that looks natural on the skin and that also feels weightless as well. I am very picky when it comes to concealers especially ones that I apply to my under eyes. I don't like anything that is too thick that is too heavy or maybe even too full coverage because sometimes they can look very bad. I think you will really like this because again it is very thin and lightweight but it's buildable. This will give you a true medium coverage but of course you can build it up to a full coverage and of course you can sheer it out as well if you want something that is more light coverage. This does cover up discoloration in the inner corner of my eye where I do have some pinky purpley tones really nicely. I do set this with a translucent powder as I always do when I am wearing concealer just to prolong the wear because sometimes I do get a little bit of creasing underneath my eyes and this wears even longer."

"I used to use this concealer all the time long ago and I was always mixed on it. I love full coverage so you'd think that would have aligned with what my aesthetic was, but it just didn't do it for me. I didn't like the applicator, that thick dop. What I really hate about that product is they're so messy. The dop foot has a wiper inside that never really wiped off enough product, so you'd end up with a massive amount of concealer on the dop foot. It would also get and start to run along the side of the container and leak, and then when you'd put the cap back on and twist it, it would squeeze out and create such a mess. One thing I really liked to use it for was to prep eyelids. It was phenomenal eyelid prep. But overall, I've always been neutral on it. It's fine, and I didn't understand the hype."

"I'm not doing too heavy of a look today because my skin is slightly irritated. I'm just going to blend that in just for a little bit of improvement to the redness around my eyes."

"I got shade 125 light natural. It says long wear, so I'm a little concerned about that because long wear stuff tends to be drying in my experience. I've been using the Tarte Shape Tape and it's okay, but I feel as though there has to be a drugstore option that performs just as well because it's not like, you know, mind-blowing or anything. It was thirty dollars, so there's that. That seems like a lot to me."
