What the gurus are saying

The botanical ingredients (orange peel oil, lemon peel oil, fragrance) create a split verdict: some see them as irritants, others love the sweet citrus scent, so sensitive skin may want to patch test first. It brings 80 minutes of water resistance and SPF 50 with maximal UVA coverage (PA4+), plus a quick-disappearing texture, though it costs more than competitors.

"Supergoop Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 has no oxybenzone or octinoxate, actually the first traditional sunscreen formulated without oxybenzone. The current formula does use avobenzone and homosalate at 10%, octisalate, and octocrylene. It has really nice texture and it's water resistant. The homosalate [...] is at 10%, which is above the EU guideline of 7.34%, but it's still a solid option if oxybenzone is your primary concern."

"Supergoop Play SPF 50 is something stronger if you live more in the southern hemisphere or closer to the equator. You probably need something SPF 50 every single day. Miraculously this one does not burn my eyes and I use it every day as a makeup base."

"It's a chemical sunscreen, which is fine, but it does contain irritants in it. It's got orange peel oil, lemon peel oil, plus fragrance, so this again is a no. I have no idea why they've added these ingredients in it. If you're coming from the perspective of trying to create a sunscreen with minimal irritation, maximum hydration, this doesn't make sense to do this. I really don't know what the thinking is here."

"First up we've got Supergoop, this is the Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50. It's water resistant for 80 minutes. It's a little thicker than the other one, but it still disappears right away, just a few swipes and it goes right into your skin. It's SPF 50 and PA4+, so the UVA coverage is at its max. It does have a smell to it, it has some botanical ingredients so it has a nice sweet citrus smell. This one is good for face and body, it's five and a half fluid ounces. You pay for a Supergoop, it is more expensive."
