What the gurus are saying

The gurus who tried it praise it as a practical midday touch-up that controls oil and adds a layer of sun protection without looking heavy, though the key word is touch-up: it is not meant to replace a base sunscreen, and applying enough powder for meaningful SPF coverage would leave skin looking powdery. One expert found the coverage too thin for reliable sun protection on its own. Those interested may want to tap it on gently rather than rub, which helps prevent pilling over moisturizer and sunscreen underneath.

"Super Goop Resetting Mineral Powder offers SPF 35 and it's a zinc oxide powder, so there is some sunscreen protection in here. It's not going to give you super duper full coverage sunscreen protection, but it's actually kind of a nice product for touch-ups, especially when you want a little extra sun protection or you want to control oil. Not only does it help to take down the shininess just because it is a powder product, but I find this one to be pretty good at controlling oil. It's just nice to get that little extra coverage when you are touching up in the middle of the day."

"I have not found anything that is practical that also looks good on the skin like the Super Goop Resetting Mineral Powder. I really like that one. I use the Deep shade because it helps to combat shine so it's also like retouching my makeup and it's also kind of topping off the sunscreen. Now reapply is a key word here because you're going to want to put on enough of your base sunscreen because if you try to rely on that powder alone you're going to be so so sadly mistaken. Unless you plan on taking like a bucket of it and putting it on your face you'll probably never put on enough for it to mean anything significant other than to reapply."

"You just aren't getting the right coverage. I honestly feel like they're kind of useless in general as a sunscreen product. You shouldn't rely on this as your main sunscreen or even as a reapplication sunscreen unless you want to look like a powdery mess. It's just never going to be good enough coverage."

"It's just a beautiful product. They also have an SPF powder that comes with four different shades and the powders themselves are refillable so you can keep the brush and clean it and buy the refill and just stick it on here. It's not the best dispensing mechanism, but a lot does come out as you can see, so it's not bad once you get it moving and get it kind of through the holes underneath the brush. I do use this product as my makeup as well. I literally use this much every morning and it covers my face and I do make sure to tap it on my nose and my jawline. The way I apply it is yes I do kind of shmear it on but then I take it and I tap tap tap tap tap that way product underneath it does not pill because when you rub sunscreen over other products the other products have a tendency to."
