What the gurus are saying

This cream earned praise for fitting smoothly into skincare routines alongside other popular products. However, a reformulation about a year ago drew criticism for not performing as well as the original and lacking lasting power, leaving fans of the earlier version disappointed.

"Such as the lunar sleeping oil and Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream these products complemented their already hugely now popular lineup"
~Nay
"People did not like it. It didn't last well and then they just kind of got rid of it and nothing's ever been talked about again with it. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with this brand because they used to release thoughtful releases occasionally, maybe every couple months, and now it's kind of been crickets. I know they're expensive but I really did like this cream enough to purchase it and it's kind of a bummer."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
