What the gurus are saying

Its low-alkaline formula cleanses notably gently, markedly softer than typical Korean cleansers, with strong appeal for mature skin and fragrance-conscious users, while the hanbang scent resonates widely. Gurus acknowledge the quality but split on personal value: praise highlights mature skin benefits, while some decline to repurchase despite appreciating the formula, citing preference for affordable options. Those nervous about fragrance may want to try it in a wash-off product first.

"This turned out to be really number one for a long time, pretty good, I kind of understand why, it's about twice as expensive as other Olive Young cleansers but it smells really good and relaxing, that's the great thing about Amore products, it smells good with a light bubbly foam. I was surprised that this longtime favorite among the 40 plus crowd was also low alkaline, no wonder it feels gentle, it cleanses so well. The pump doesn't dispense that well, but it's a great gift for your mom if she has mature skin. Between the two, I will just pick this one."

"It's the same with the Gentle Cleansing Foam, for me personally I see the appeal, but I actually really like my affordable cleansers, I'm not complaining, my skin occasionally likes some rather expensive products but not with cleanser, with cleanser it likes to go affordable. Still, this is a really well done Korean cleansing foam. A lot of the Korean cleansers that I've tried are a little bit more harsh, this one leans more gentle, it's got that great hanbang smell. If you are somebody who is a bit more sensitive and nervous about the fragrance, you might want to try it in some kind of a wash off product, this is a great option. For me the double cleansing options didn't stick, I don't continue to repurchase these."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
