What the gurus are saying

The convenient pad format earns praise for ease of use, but concerns surface about the ingredient mix. One expert worries these pads tend to be harsh on skin's natural balance, though the alcohol-free formula is a step in a gentler direction. Those with sensitive or reactive skin may want to patch-test first or use sparingly to see how their skin responds.

"Typically they're just very harsh on the skin. I feel like Stridex is definitely in that era of time where you know, when we were high schoolers, middle schoolers, and struggling with breakouts and acne, we were just looking for something and that was kind of the easy option to get. I feel like nowadays there's a lot better and more gentle products that exfoliate the skin that help to treat those breakouts and spots."

"I like that it comes in a pad form, a pre-soaked pad, because it's just very convenient. A lot of guys maybe don't have the most time in the world for their nighttime skincare routines, so it's really easy to just go and smooth a pad all over. Another possible place you could use the salicylic acid pads is on your arms, on your legs, on your butt, wherever you get keratosis pilaris, that bumpy kind of strawberry skin looking rash. You can also use it if you have thickened heel skin."
