What the gurus are saying

The salicylic acid microdots earn praise for actually shrinking spots rather than just keeping them flat, a real step up from basic Starface patches. However, the microdarts themselves can irritate inflamed skin and potentially worsen marks, so they work best on early-stage blemishes rather than angry cystic acne. These are a solid middle-ground option for pimple patches, though some experts still lean toward alternatives like ZitSticka for faster results on urgent spots.

"I like this idea. One issue I've always had with Starface is I like their patches, but they're kind of a keep-me-from-picking, keep-the-scab-from-darkening product, I wouldn't reach for Starface if I had a big spot coming up and needed it gone the next day, I'd reach for something like ZitSticka or the Cosrx ones instead. But I would go for these because the microdots actually feel like they're doing something lower down, deeper in that spot level, to shrink it down, so these are actually really good. I do like Starface as a brand, they always do fun licenses. I'm not excited about these, but it's nice to know they're an option when I'm shopping for pimple patches in future, I think they'll be a good go-to, though I think I'd still choose ZitSticka over them, it depends on the price since ZitSticka is quite expensive."

"I do not like the ones with darts. Whenever I see micro darts and somebody who's putting it on an inflamed pimple or blemish, even though the idea is nice that yes it's going to help treat dark spots especially if it does have any sort of active ingredient in it, the darts itself can be extremely irritating and can worsen the marks. So not something that I love, especially if you're sensitive."

"Starface does have salicylic acid hydrocolloid patches and I do like these slightly better now. The same issue that I had with the original I have with this, they don't stick perfectly. I really really like these though. These have salicylic acid in them, salicylic acid is an ingredient that actually kills acne bacteria and it works for oily prone skin. It goes into the pimple basically, helps dissolve the oil, and it really kills acne bacteria and helps exfoliate. These are not super powerful players. If you have a cystic pimple this is not going to help. If you have a gnarly zit this is not it. But if you want to feel good about your acne, if you want to embrace it and do something, treat it as long as it's not like a place that your hair is going to get caught in it and rip it off, these are really cute and really good. They just aren't the top players for me. They're really fun and good for like pre-teen breakouts, like the occasional period breakout, but if you've got gnarly pimples these might not be right for you."
