    What the gurus are saying

This retinol formulation is designed for the delicate eye area, which matters because regular retinol can cause dryness and irritation on eyelids. Reviewers found it lightweight with a dewy finish, and the supporting ingredients like niacinamide, glycerin, and tranexamic acid work alongside the retinol to help address fine lines and dark circles.

"This is the Some By Mi Retinol Intense Advanced Triple Action Eye Cream. I cannot believe how much they have crammed into the formula of this product. We get to know that this has 1% retinol in it, which is a great level."

"This is supposed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It's retinol, improved dark circles, et cetera. I've been using it and it's very nicely light under the eyes. It gives like a nice dewy, moisturized look. We have a lot of antioxidants, soybean, centella asiatica, niacinamide, 0.1 retinol, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, and tranexamic acid. I'm interested in this one. I think this is a good example of an eye cream because retinol formulated to go around the eyes is worth buying an eye cream for, since if you put your normal retinol around the eyes you can get really dry, flaky, and cause a lot of irritation, especially under and above the eyelid."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
