What the gurus are saying

The wand's small size divides experts on real-world impact. One creator praises its ease of daily use, the smoothing effects of microcurrent on fine lines, and red light's anti-inflammatory power, calling it a magical addition to any routine. However, dermatologists expressed skepticism that the device's compact form delivers enough light density to make a meaningful difference, though they acknowledge red light itself has genuine anti-inflammatory and collagen-boosting effects. A skeptical expert found it gimmicky and ineffective. Best for those wanting convenient, quick treatments rather than intensive professional-grade results.

"It was called a Solo Wave and it was a microcurrent device that had little red light therapy and it was on a wand. Gimmicky waste of money. Not a big enough space to really do red light therapy. If you're moving around this little wand that has a red light, the surface area that's being treated is super small. It's super small. So you're not getting the same treatment area that you would if you had a mask or if you used a red light therapy panel. I was sent one of those. When I started realizing this is not really microcurrent, it's not really working. You can still use it for lymphatic drainage, which it works really well for lymphatic drainage, but that's about it."

"This is the Solo Wave Skin Care Wand with Red Light Therapy. [...] This one doesn't have an on and off button, [...] it's kind of finicky that way. I'm so happy they changed it honestly because it was one of my least favorite parts about using this. [...] Now you get a power button for on and off. [...] This has microcurrent, it has red light therapy, it warms the skin, it feels incredible, and it's just a really easy way to incorporate amazing skincare into your routine. [...] A lot of my skincare devices take a lot of time and so I feel like I have to really set aside like a spa night to do a full treatment, [...] but this one's a really easy one to incorporate every day. I love how it kind of goes side to side so you can customize the direction you're using this. The microcurrent smooths fine lines over time. Red light therapy is one of my favorite therapies ever. It helps with hyperpigmentation, it helps with collagen production. It's a [...] magical little wand."

"Red light LED definitely has anti-inflammatory effects and helps to calm the skin down, especially if you have breakouts. I have this device in my office, but I am personally a little skeptical of it because it is so small. For the LED lights to be effective you have to have it at the right density. It looks very cool and it's a cool gadget to have on your shelf and to use in a video, but how much does it actually help? I am skeptical."
