What the gurus are saying

Gurus split on this one. One found the fragrance so heavy it overshadowed the benefits, though they noted it might appeal to those who need a scent-driven nudge to actually use retinol on their hands. Another considers it a reliable favorite at what appears to be 0.2% retinol, praising it for gentleness even without irritation, and pairs it with an occlusive barrier and cotton gloves overnight for a deeper treatment. That means those sensitive to fragrance may want to sample it first, while others might find the scent a helpful motivator to stay consistent.

"It's so fragrant. The fragrance is so heavy. I think it's so unnecessary and it actually bothered me how fragrant it was. If you feel like something cute like this would help you to actually apply retinol to your hands, then maybe it's worth it. That's what I thought. But it's just not."

"A definite hand cream favorite is the Soft Services retinol hand cream. I think it's 0.2% retinol, but it never irritates my hands. I've been putting the Apto barrier 365 over it and then putting cotton gloves on at night for a great overnight mask. This has been a great find."
