What the gurus are saying

Gurus strongly endorse snail mucin, citing robust clinical evidence for hydration, barrier repair, and anti-aging benefits including measurable improvements in wrinkles and transepidermal water loss. The main barrier to adoption is psychological squeamishness about the source, though experts note the ingredient has a long history of use in Korean skincare and the scientific data overwhelmingly supports its efficacy.

"Snail mucin is an incredible skincare ingredient for the skin that helps with resolving dehydration a broken moisture barrier. It helps to fight damage and premature aging within the skin. There are just so many benefits to it. And a lot of people get weirded out when it comes to snail mucin I get it. It's a little bit strange but people in Korea have been using it for I mean centuries right it's been around a really long time. And the data that we have around it is just pretty much all good."

"When you look at the data there are reasons you could use this product and there are reasons that it can be beneficial for your skin. It may be one of the greatest ingredients of all time. They've done a tremendous amount of studies on snail mucin, and I've seen ones done at academic centers, multi-study ones, split face ones against placebo. They've actually shown quite a bit of different clinical benefits to the skin. They've looked at photoaging and shown an improvement in wrinkles. They've shown an improvement in both subjective and objective measures of anti-aging. They've also looked at hydration of the skin. It has these glycosaminoglycans in it that are expected to be hydrating, but they've shown a tremendous decrease in transepidermal water loss. And they've also shown post-procedurally which I think is super interesting."
