What the gurus are saying

The gurus who looked at this found it functions more as an exfoliator than a traditional toner, which means those expecting hydration or pH balancing will be disappointed. One expert felt it added an unnecessary step without delivering meaningful results for the price, while another noted that toners in general are often drying and not essential, especially for people watching their budget or already using other exfoliants in their routine.

"The toner at $45, a skin renewing toner using double acidic and enzymatic exfoliation to help reduce the appearance of pores and enhance skin texture. It isn't really a toner, it's another exfoliator, so it's not hydrating at all in any way. Yeah, it's an exfoliating toner, but not necessarily a good one."

"You don't need the toner. I wasn't always a toner girl. I find that this really added a step that I wasn't used to using and it really did make a big difference. The purpose of the toner is probably to just balance out your skin pH. If you're dry and you really want a hydrating, really super moisturizing toner, that's fine, but a lot of toners have alcohol, they're drying, irritating. If you're on a budget, you really don't need a toner. It's like a way extra step."
