What the gurus are saying

Both experts who tested this found it too harsh. One experienced sharp, glass-like particles that caused redness and stinging after application, while the other expressed concern that the mechanical scrubbing approach can compromise your skin barrier, which then interferes with how the rest of your skincare works. Neither felt this was a gentle or necessary way to exfoliate.

"They also launched an exfoliator which was $55, a double mechanical and again enzymatic exfoliator that helps promote skin resurfacing. This was horrible. This felt like shards of finely milled glass poking into your face. It wasn't gentle at all. It hurt while using it. It made my skin red and stingy when I applied products after it."

"It's a mechanical exfoliant not a chemical, and I'm not a big fan, especially after just hot water. I just don't in general enjoy scrubbing my face. I don't think it's healthy for your skin barrier, and if your skin barrier is compromised then your skincare is just not going to work as well."
