What the gurus are saying

This rich, buttery cream earns consistent praise for its ability to restore the skin barrier and deeply hydrate dry skin, thanks to its patented lipid complex (ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in an optimized ratio) and peptide blend that support cell regeneration and repair. Most gurus love the texture and results, though several note it is best suited to winter or colder months, as it may feel too heavy for year-round or summer use. The price point draws mixed feelings, and those already using retinoids or exfoliants will find it pairs well as a nourishing buffer.

"Skinfix is another great one."

Sephora Savings Event 2023 Dermatologist Top Picks | Dr Jenny Liu
"The next product I highly recommend is the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream. This is a great one if you have dry, sensitive skin, or for the winter. Honestly, this is one of my go-to facial moisturizers to use in the wintertime. Ingredient wise, it has their patented 3% triple lipid complex, which is a blend of lipids that helps to restore the ceramides and fatty acids that are naturally present in our skin but often deficient in the winter or for those who have dry skin. In addition, it also contains a peptide blend that helps to calm and soothe the skin and offers additional support for our skin barrier, along with other great humectants. It's just all around a very nourishing, creamy moisturizer that is, like I said, a must have for the wintertime, especially if you have dry skin. I also love the fact that this is vegan, cruelty free, and also refillable, so there's less waste. You can also find this in a mini size for about $35, along with a few other bestsellers."

"Their super popular amazing triple lipid plus peptide face cream which is one of my go-to moisturizers for the winter. Aside from their patented complex of lipids along with peptides that really helps to hydrate, soothe and help to support the skin barrier, it also contains polyglutamic acid along with niacinamide that's in 2% concentration, a very effective concentration that overall just makes a wonderful formula to help support the skin barrier. And that creamy nourishing texture really ideal for those with more dry and eczema prone skin."

Yay
"If you want something a little bit more luxurious, like the thickest, heaviest cream that I have ever used, I definitely recommend my tried and true favorite, the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream. This one is everything La Mer wishes it was, such a rich, deeply nourishing moisturizer that is incredible for anyone who has sensitive, eczema-prone skin, and definitely ideal for anyone who's on their tretinoin journey."

"I have used this for I think like 8 years on this channel. It's been a long time. I've always said that this is the moisturizer that La Mer wishes it was for a fraction of the price point. I definitely recommend pairing it with your tretinoin to make sure that your skin doesn't have to experience that dehydration and dryness and you don't have to worry as much about flaky skin."
The Best & Worst Habits for Healthy Skin!
"I have tried so many different barrier supporting products and ingredients. And my top two product recommendations for this are definitely first the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream. I have featured this on my channel for so many years and it's really amazing if you're wanting that super rich moisturizing and nourishing experience in a thick cream that just makes you wake up with beautiful glowy skin, but it is a little bit on the pricier side."
The BEST Skin Care for Dry Skin & Eczema
"This formula I truly have no words. If you're someone who no matter what you do cannot find a really rich moisturizer that is not only going to repair eczema and get rid of flaky skin but also just be such a luxurious experience that when you wake up in the morning after using it or use it throughout the day your skin just looks beautiful, this is the product for you. It really is incredible. There's a reason why it has a cult following and why it's been one of the best selling moisturizers at Sephora. It is truly unmatched and I have yet to find another moisturizer out there that even compares to how good this one is. The biggest drawback is of course the price point. I would definitely label this as a luxury skincare product and one of the most luxury products I have on my shelf. It's expensive, it's not cheap, so if you're looking for a really affordable product, this one probably isn't the one for you. However, as someone who is very picky about price points, I can confidently say it is worth every penny. I don't even know how many of these I've repurchased throughout the years. I will sing praises to it until the end of time. It's just amazing."

"If you are on the camp of very dry skin I definitely recommend focusing on using products overnight or during the day that focus on that rich moisture. My top ones I always recommend are first the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream, my personal favorite for dry skin. I use it almost every night, incredible for getting like a deep level moisture into your skin."

Drunk Elephant Affordable Dupes You Need to Try
"This is a peptide cream right, firms the skin, helps to fight against premature aging, deeply moisturizes all that good stuff. If you want the best moisturizer I have ever used that focuses on all the same things and I religiously use like almost every single night, the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream, it is truly the most mind-blowing moisturizer I have ever used in my life. I constantly recommend it in my videos. It gives you those same benefits but with way better results. However, that is like one of the most expensive skincare products I use in my collection. I believe it's $54. But I'll just be honest, the best dupe I've ever been able to find with way better results."
My ✨Luxury✨ Skin Care Routine (Worth The Price!)
"I've talked about this in so many of my videos and I always say that it's my favorite luxury product. I don't even know how many of these I've bought, it's honestly embarrassing. I freaking love this moisturizer, and if you're someone who has dry skin or you want a really deeply moisturizing and transformative look for your skin overnight, definitely use this one. I always call this one the better La Mer dupe because the experience feels similar to La Mer but makes your skin look so much better. Every time I use this overnight, when I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, I'm just like stunning, glowing. It is not cheap, but boy oh boy is it worth every penny. I have used this one at least three times a week for the past I don't know three years. It is just such a beautiful formula that I will always stand by. I get so many people, whether it's you guys or friends, telling me that this moisturizer changed your life, and it did for me too. It's kind of ironic that this is one of my most favorite products because I'm all about lightweight moisturizers and products, but this one just truly transforms the skin and thankfully doesn't suffocate it. It's not so heavy that you feel like your skin can't breathe. I can use this one whether I'm in humid Hawaii or traveling. I love slathering my face up with this when I'm flying. It's just such a good one, and I also love that they now have refillable packaging to make it more sustainable. Yeah, obsessed with this formula."
The BEST Moisturizers of 2023
"The top one and actually your guys' favorite, the one that you guys purchased and talked about the most is the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream. I truly have not found a moisturizer for dry or dehydrated skin that performs better than this. It is $54, which is a little pricey, but I'm more than willing to pay that price for how absolutely incredible this formula is. It has a plethora of rich nourishing ingredients like caprylic triglyceride, shea butter, jojoba oil, soybean, and a bunch of ceramides in it to really help support the health and the moisture barrier, which is really great if you have dry flaky skin. I know so many people who struggle with eczema who love this product. I personally don't really use it during the day just because my skin does tend to get a little bit oilier during the day, but at night and when I'm in Colorado, for example, that's when my skin gets really dry. I was so on the hunt to find a good alternative moisturizer that would be able to take its place this year, but sorry folks I got nothing. This is the best for dry skin. It's not the cheapest, but if you're someone who's a fan of luxury skincare, this is the best dupe for any of those luxury moisturizers that I found."
The BEST Moisturizers of 2025 🧴 Eczema, Lips, & All Skin Types!
"You guys know how often I talk about this moisturizer, and for a long time, this was my favorite moisturizer to actually use overnight, particularly in dry environments or when I'm on the plane. It's so rich and so thick and primarily is oriented or aimed towards people who have eczema prone skin or extremely dry skin. And if that's you, I cannot recommend this moisturizer enough. When I tell you, I have seen this moisturizer transform so many people's skin, particularly with eczema. And you guys know if you struggle with eczema, it's so difficult finding a moisturizer that actually works and is not just like something really basic. This not only delivers incredible results, but the ingredient list is fantastic. It has a powerful 3% peptide solution as well as ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, and a bunch of rich natural oils, all from a very scientific focused Canadian brand that was actually first introduced to the market as a medical grade solution for people with eczema prone skin before they released it to the public. There's just so much science backing up their formulas from an ingredient standpoint. It is far exceeding other moisturizers I find on the market. And you know what? As a combination skin girly, before I found this one, I was actually very anti-thick, heavy, rich creams. I didn't think my skin needed it until I started using this one overnight. And the rest is history. I've recommended this in probably hundreds of videos by now because I love it so much."

You're Using Tretinoin Wrong (and how to actually get results)
"If you want something a little bit more luxurious, like the thickest, heaviest cream that I have ever used, I definitely recommend my tried and true favorite, the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream. This one is everything La Mer wishes it was, such a rich, deeply nourishing moisturizer that is incredible for anyone who has sensitive, eczema-prone skin, and definitely ideal for anyone who's on their tretinoin journey."
Skin Aging: Your Questions Answered!
"My go-to recommendation is the Skinfix Triple Lipid Barrier Peptide Cream. It is such an incredible formula because not only will it work to make sure that your moisture barrier is deeply nourished and your skin is plumped with a nice dewy look, it also has ingredients to help promote collagen production in your skin, which helps make your skin look more tight and bouncy instead of a looser appearance. I freaking love that moisturizer, every single time I use it and I wake up in the morning I'm just like, wow, this is totally worth the 50 bucks it costs. It's way better than the 500 dollar La Mer cream that everyone hypes up to be the best moisturizer for aging. The ingredients are so much better but the formula is so similar. If you have dry aging skin it is an incredible product, it really is like the best of the best moisturizer."

"This moisturizer is amazing. Every time I use this moisturizer I never have to worry about my skin getting dry, and I particularly love using it overnight. Every time I use this, when I wake up in the morning my skin is always plump and hydrated. I love using it after my tretinoin treatment because tretinoin does have a reputation for being somewhat drying to the skin, so I want to compensate by using a really rich moisturizer afterwards."

I think it's a brilliant formula. I know that this product is on the pricier end, I think it's one of the most expensive products in this video, and I totally get it if it's a little too expensive, but it's literally incredible. I've gotten so many people onto this product, it's so good."

"First, the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid Peptide Cream, this one is amazing for really deeply nourishing the skin. The BEST Moisturizers of 2021!
"I just have no words for this product, actually no, I have a lot of words for this product, it is incredible. The way that it just boosts the moisture of your skin and gives you a fresh natural glow in the morning is really pretty incredible. I have found myself using this over and over again every single night. I don't use this one during the day because it's a very thick cream, do not underestimate the thickness of this cream, it is very thick, but I love using thicker moisturizers overnight because it can really help prevent trans epidermal water loss and make sure your skin doesn't get dehydrated. It has an amazing formula with a bunch of advanced ingredients that really work to strengthen your skin's barrier, and I love using this alongside my retinol serums or salicylic acid treatments, because I know whenever I use this I'm not going to have to worry about dryness at all."

Using a richer moisturizer at night has really helped decrease my oiliness during the day, because it's ensuring that I'm not losing so much water through my skin as I sleep."
Why Your Moisturizer is NOT Working
"For creams I personally recommend the Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream. I love using this one on my cheeks overnight, or whenever I have to travel to the mainland where it's not as humid, because my skin gets really dry in the mainland, and this is an amazing one to help with dryness. It's one of the best rich cream formulas I've ever discovered. It's a really good complex and works particularly well if you're struggling with a compromised moisture barrier."

"When I make these custom routines, SkinFix is always a brand I include because I know they're going to be fragrance-free typically and I know for the most part if somebody has sensitive skin, they're not going to have an issue with it. [...] The SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is a fragrance-free thick cream that's great for dry or dehydrated skin. It's 54 bucks. The bottle is refillable, which is nice, so if you end up liking it, you can just repurchase the refills. You would unscrew this part and then screw in the cap refill."

"They recently upgraded a little bit and added some beneficial ingredients in here. It's a little bit more expensive at $54, but the one thing I do like is the packaging is refillable, so you can just unscrew this top, put the next one in, and the refill is a little bit more affordable. I really love SkinFix. I have yet to have anybody that I've given a SkinFix product to be disappointed with it. One of my friends her skin was getting super dry, so I gave her a bottle of the SkinFix serum and she loved it. I handed that to her with about three or four other moisturizers and out of all of them that was her favorite. In here we've got ceramide EOP, ceramide NP, ceramide AP, phytosphingosine, cholesterol, then we also have vitamin E, squalane, and aloe. I would say this one's more geared towards dry skin. They do have a version of this one that's more friendly for oilier skin, so I want to mention that too. This one a little bit more friendly for dry skin."

"This is their strengthening cream, geared towards dry skin, it's 54 bucks with an upgraded formula that now contains more lipids to help with skin barrier and hydration. You need to have a healthy skin barrier if your skin barrier is damaged, you're much more prone to aging and environmental damage than if it's not. It also has a good amount of peptides, ceramides, squalane, rice bran, and rice protein. It's very nice, so if you have dry skin this one's worth a try. I like the fact that they upgraded what they have instead of just releasing a whole new product, because a lot of brands just create another new product and keep selling the old one."

Sephora 2024 Holiday Sale: Dermatologist Top Picks!
"I am actually obsessed with it because it reminds me a lot of another really awesome and rich thick moisturizer for winter but without the hefty price tag. I also like that there's a lot of science behind it. This contains the 3.5% patented BL3 barrier lipid complex, which contains biomimetic lipids meaning ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in the optimized golden ratio that helps your skin barrier stay really strong and hydrated. It also has vitamin B9 folic acid and vitamin E and signal peptides for skin cell regeneration, wound healing, and repair of cells. BL3 was found to improve barrier contents of ceramides and lipids as well as natural moisturizing factors and aquaporin three levels in the skin. Aquaporins are channels in your cell membrane that help facilitate water entry and movement in and out of cells, so it helps you maintain more hydrated skin and a better and more functional skin barrier. I really like the texture of this. It goes on really thick."

"It is pretty thick. There's no smell so this is not likely to cause allergic reactions if you're sensitive to fragrance. This is definitely a very rich and extremely hydrating moisturizer for fall and winter, especially great if you have eczema prone skin or dry skin. I've been a fan of SkinFix for many years across many different product lines and so this one is no different. It's really, really nourishing and hydrating. It doesn't exactly evaporate quickly, which I think is good. You don't want a moisturizer that just absorbs in after a few seconds, so I think this will really do a good job of keeping your skin moisturized all night, even with your heater blaring."

"SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is really rich and nourishing, clinically proven to restore the skin barrier. The peptides in this one help with elasticity and collagen production. Skincare in Your 50s & 60s: Anti-Aging Ingredients, Devices & Dermatologist Tips
"If you want something right in the middle that will be a little step up from the CeraVe you should consider the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid Cream. As we age our skin produces fewer lipids leading to weakened barrier that's more prone to moisture loss irritation and sensitivity, so strengthening the skin lipids barrier helps lock in that hydration and protect against the environmental damage. This one is clinically proven to restore the skin barrier function within 1 hour of application. It improves elasticity and hydration levels by 70% within just four weeks. It also helps reduce some of that transepidermal water loss and prevents dehydration making it really ideal for mature skin. The key ingredient is the triple lipid complex which contains ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids. It also has peptides in it as well as hyaluronic acid."
Peptides in Skincare: Benefits, Types, and Best Products | Dr. Aleksandra Brown
"I've gone through multiple bottles of it. [...] As we age, our skin produces fewer lipids leading to weakened barrier that is more prone to moisture loss, irritation, and sensitivity. [...] This one's clinically proven to restore skin's barrier function within 1 hour of application. It also helps improve elasticity and hydration levels by 70% within 4 weeks of use. It can help reduce transepidermal water loss and prevent that dehydration which is going to make it ideal for mature or maturing skin. This formula includes 3% peptide solution with a neutropeptide blend containing hexapeptide 11, algapeptides 1, 2, and 3, which are known for enhancing skin firmness and barrier support. The key ingredients here are the peptides which are the signaling peptides, the triple lipid complex, and hyaluronic acid."

"This is very, very hydrating, does not have any scent to it. It's very similar to Versed, maybe a little more, like a little softer, a little bit more hydrating. I have used it at night time as part of my retinol sandwich method, but it's appropriate for twice daily use. SkinFix also has the gel version of this which I love for the summer months or if you're more on the oily side, but I like the brand overall very, very much. Their cleansers and moisturizers are amazing."

"Talking about traditional peptide moisturizers, do they work? Not really in the way people think. They are cell signalers typically. So you get the palmitoyl pentapeptide 4, tripeptides 1 and 7. Those [...] peptides [...] will pretty much give the text instructions to your fibroblast and skin cells to make more collagen in your dermis or second layer and does help with fine lines and wrinkles. [...] If I were to [...] rate peptide moisturizers in general about a 7.5 to 8 out of 10 in terms of anti-aging, I don't think it's going to be nearly as good as a retinoid, especially tretinoin or tazarotene that's prescription, but it will be a nice supplement to the anti-aging routine."

I love the texture, it's very nourishing, great for those with dry skin, and I've talked about it for the last couple years."

Peptide Moisturizers Explained- How They Fight Wrinkles and ‘Zombie’ Skin Cells

"I appreciate a brand like that because in the winter time my skin does become a little impaired, but some of these fragrance-free and good skin barrier strengthening kind of products can tend to be a little bit boring. So at least with SkinFix, you get a little bit of luxury, a little something in there. Plus I like the ingredients that are in this. There's some fatty acid oils in it which is great for strengthening the skin's barrier, it's great for dry skin, and fatty acid oils are also amazing within a hyperpigmentation skin care routine."

The products I recommend in REAL LIFE
"One thing that really really helped was the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream. This is still the moisturizer that I use on the nights that I use my tretinoin, so three nights a week I apply this. [...] It just helps to protect my barrier, keeps my face nice and hydrated, and it's also really great to have in your stash if you've over-exfoliated or something. [...] This is the one that I would recommend for anyone who is beginning the tretinoin journey. If you're looking for a nice heavy moisturizer, [...] this is it."

"This is an interesting texture because it is very buttery, it's very rich, but it's not thick. It's like if you whipped butter, you know, kind of gets fluffy. That's how this feels. And as you spread this onto your skin, it straight up melts into your skin. It's very luxurious. [...] You really feel the oil content here. You feel that nourishing skin softening oil melting into your skin in this airy, fluffy, buttery texture. Very, very moisturizing. If you have dry, flaky skin, this will really soothe that very nicely. And because of the barrier strengthening lipids in here, it can be quite soothing to the skin as well. It does not feel occlusive though, so [...] this is why I feel like this cream may not be the best for those who have dehydration. [...] A little bit of occlusivity in a moisturizer actually helps to resist the dehydration process and helps to resist hydration deep within your skin escaping through the top layers. [...] But if your skin is very dry, if it's very flaky, if it needs softening, if it needs a lot of richness and moisture, this is definitely the one."

5 Star Skincare Empties! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"I use this all winter long. It's very rich, it's moisturizing, it's barrier restorative. I knocked a star off of it because it's pretty pricey product for what it is, for the amount that you get, and it's not my year-round moisturizer. It's really only something that I've been gravitating towards in cold weather. They recently reformulated it within the last few years and I actually really like what they've done with the cream. I think they fixed a lot of the elements I didn't like about when I first tried it years ago."
Save MORE $$$ | Expensive Skincare DUPES (Drugstore Edition)
"This is a pretty nice barrier strengthening moisturizer. [...] The key ingredients include a 3% triple lipid complex with different forms of ceramides, sterols, and fatty acids. These are important crucial lipids that help restore your skin barrier, especially if it's weak or damaged or needs to stay strong in the face of aggressive actives like retinoids or even cold weather. They're also using a 3% peptide solution [...] derived from rice bran, which is good for helping to strengthen the skin barrier and help your skin retain moisture. The only issue [...] is the use of the word peptide itself. It's not really like very recognizable peptides in here. [...] Marketing wise, they are cashing in on the fact that the word peptides usually infers anti-aging benefits."

"I'm really warming up to this, I'm really enjoying this. It's something that I think is really great and it's been helpful for me. This has been really helpful for me. My skin's been going through it this month and this really helped with the peely flaky irritation. I started using this one because it is so rich, it's so moisturizing. I've been playing around with using this cream with just a little bit of another moisturizing cream mixed in and it kind of creates like an even thicker, heftier kind of cream with a little bit more occlusivity. It is so rich, it's so moisturizing, but for me personally it's not overwhelming and it's just like that right mix, that right prescription that my skin needed."
Melt the Day Away | Calming Skincare Routine
"SkinFix has a little bit more silkiness to it. It's so silky and moisturizing that 9 months out of the year it's too much for my skin, but there's kind of an amazing thing that happens between the two creams when I mix them together. When my skin is feeling quite dry, maybe a little raw, maybe irritated, I'll mix them together to really boost up a lot of moisture."
My Sephora Top 15 Skincare Picks
"This cream, I've been rocking it so much this past winter. It did go through a reformulation. I had tried it quite a few years ago, maybe around the time it first debuted at Sephora, and I didn't like it. It was kind of heavy, a little too rich, kind of smelly, it was just weird, I didn't like it. Then I had the opportunity to try it again after it had been reformulated in 2023, and I was like, this is not how I remember this product at all. This is actually a lot more elegant. It's still incredibly rich, but it's actually sinking into my skin a lot better. It feels so soothing, it feels so restorative to my skin. It still smells funny but I don't mind that because it's performing for me so much better, and I just ended up using it so much in the cold weather. That's really where this cream shines, I think, for dry skin. It's incredibly rich. As it says, triple lipid, there's a lot of lipids in here, very very rich fatty acids in here, ceramides in here. It's all focused on building back your skin barrier, really working on soothing dry and flaky skin. It has a very very moisturizing, rich, almost shea buttery like texture to it, and yeah, it's very very nourishing."

Best Winter Moisturizers
"This is phenomenal. It's a Canadian brand but it's female-owned and it is so good. It has one of these pump tops too so you get the perfect amount but it's also refillable so if you are looking for something more eco-friendly or you just want the inside you can just purchase this and it's less expensive. It does have these triple lipids in them and it includes that squalane that we just spoke about but this also has jojoba oil in it which is phenomenal for the skin. Jojoba oil is one of my personal favorites for my oily acne prone skin and if you're breakout prone this is really great because it doesn't necessarily cause breakouts for many people, it's more of an acne friendly version especially if you have acne and dry skin absolutely lovely. It is one that is really made to rebuild a skin barrier."

"This is a moisturizer that I really love and that a lot of dermatologists do as well. It's made in Canada. I love it. Dr. Shaw is just as obsessed with it as I am. But some people were not happy. One reviewer said it smells like sour milk and it sits on the face and then later in the day it would noodle out of the face, which I don't understand what that means. But I don't find it to smell that bad. I love this product."

5 Winter Moisturizers That Don’t Clog Pores
"If you have eczema and you've got acne you're dealing with the dryness and the flakes and the damaged barrier and the irritation and the pimples and that can be so frustrating. If there's one thing I can recommend it is this, the SkinFix Barrier Plus Lipid Peptide Cream. This has this triple lipid technology, it's basically a bunch of peptides and different oils that really soothe the skin. This is one of my favorite formulas and it is so good. Some people had comments about how it noodles, or pills, when I play around with it a little bit more. If you do apply a lot it can peel a touch but I actually find it pills more if you apply it over other serums that have niacinamide or other things. The pilling is not something that bothers me. If you've got eczema-prone skin that is also prone to acne or prone to getting clogged, this doesn't clog up those pores, it doesn't lead to the blackheads and the whiteheads the way a lot of other formulas do. It just goes onto skin so smooth, so luxuriously and it both locks everything in and nourishes and hydrates. This has jojoba, squalling, aloe, rice, basically all of these soothing, nourishing, barrier-supportive ingredients. I used to call them SkinFects by the way, they're made in Canada. If you have dry, irritated, eczema-prone skin this is a 10 out of 10 recommendation. Even if you don't have eczema but you want something cushiony, you really like the springy feel, you want something with jojoba and oat, yes absolutely."

"I really, really like the one from Skinfix, their Triple Lipid Barrier Plus moisturizer. It's kind of in between a mass market product on price and something like SkinCeuticals, and it works really well."

"If you have dry skin or just really irritated skin, the Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream is a must, there's a reason why it's won so many different awards. This one also has all three of the ceramides I talked about earlier, as well as peptides to really work on the collagen levels in your skin, repair the skin barrier, and increase elasticity and strength. There's also a lot of emollient in it, like hemp seed oil. It's always sold out everywhere, it's amazing for dry skin."
Yay
"I love the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream. This is my favorite Holy Grail like cream facial moisturizer. It is so good. I've never experienced a moisturizer where I notice a difference from just the lotion itself. Most of the time the lotion is just there to keep my hydration in check and all that, but I feel like when I use this one my skin looks better and better and better. I swear to you it's my favorite."

"Their hero product is Skin Fix Barrier Plus, and it's gorgeous. If you're on a retinoid journey and you want something to buffer it out, this is perfect. I love the fact that it's in a pump action dosed little pot. Really nice range, I think well worth going in and well worth braving the crowds and going and checking out Sephora for it."
Yay
"This is a really similar formulation to the Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Repair and a very close dupe in my opinion. It has a patented three percent triple lipid complex to replenish your skin barrier with ceramides and fatty acids, peptides to help your skin barrier function more optimally, a hyaluronic blend to pull moisture into your skin, and lily root extract to tighten the skin. This is fragrance free unlike the essential oil blends in the Skinceuticals product, making it a better option for sensitive skin. It's also clean, cruelty free, and made without parabens. It has clinical studies showing improvement in the quantity of lipids and is clinically shown to improve the softness, smoothness, and radiance of the skin. The texture is thick and creates a barrier on top of the skin, and it takes a little bit of time to absorb, but once you get it applied evenly it does feel nice and soothing. For 50 dollars for 1.7 ounces, this is a huge savings from the 136 dollar option."
Yay
"I recommend this all the time to patients. It's the SkinFix triple lipid moisturizer. That triple lipid name really refers to having the right combination of lipids that sort of mimic the type of fats that exist in the skin barrier. So, it's cholesterol, it's fatty acids, it's ceramides in the right blend to support the skin barrier. And what I like about this is that it's fragrance-free. So, that's good if you have more sensitive skin. It's just rich enough that you feel like your skin is getting a little bit of a hug, but it's not so thick that it would be unappealing to wear during the day or under makeup."

"This one is more for the face for me, Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream. I'm a huge fan of this one. I think when it comes to moisturizers, you really have to try them. You can look at the ingredient list all day with some of these products, you have no idea if you're going to like it on your skin unless you try them. I have normal combination skin, but I still use this one. It's just a very very good moisturizer with this peptide lipid complex. Anyone who's tried it really does love it. It's fragrance-free, doesn't cause a lot of allergy or irritation in anybody, and I've just been using it for a really long time. This is the moisturizer I like to send to friends and family who are getting into skin care. I like order from the website and I just like ship it to them because I know a lot of people will like it. It has peptides in it, and your moisturizer is doing work. It's not just moisturizing, it's also adding to your actives along the way."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Source: DermNet

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
