What the gurus are saying

Ectoine, this balm's key ingredient, earns praise for being simultaneously antioxidant, soothing, and hydrating while it stabilizes the skin's moisture barrier. Reviewers love the thick-moisturizer texture (not heavy like petrolatum balms) and the peptide-rich formula, which supports skin barrier recovery. That said, it contains arnica, which some prefer to skip daily, and those with acne-prone skin may want to patch test first given the castor oil and cetyl alcohol.

Best Hydrating Moisturizers for Fall & Winter ❄️🍁🍀 Say Goodbye to Dry Skin
"It's the Skinfix Ectoine Retinol Alternative Intensive Skin Barrier Repair Balm, and it's 69 bucks at Sephora. It's fragrance-free, but it does contain arnica extract. I don't love arnica, but for certain things it can be helpful like bruises and things like that. But for daily use, arnica is not my favorite. But most people probably won't have an issue with it. It's got a cream balm texture to it. It's got a unique package pump, too. The beneficial ingredients in here are castor seed oil, which is very hydrating, jojoba, macadamia nut esters, sunflower seed oil, ectoine, squalane, peptides, beta glucan, and ceramides. So I would say it's pretty good for dry and some types of oily skin, but if you're acne prone, we've got a few ingredients of note. We've got cetyl alcohol, castor seed oil, and vitamin E. So, very nice product."
What Are the Newest & Best Anti-Aging Ingredients for Mature & Aging Skin? My Youthful Skin Faves
"It is a hydrating balm formula that contains bitter melon exosomes in addition to peptides to help lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It's got kind of a fun dispenser and it just comes out in the texture of kind of a thicker moisturizer. It also contains vitamin E and some other goodies worth checking out."
Do You Need Ectoin in Your Skincare Routine? All About Ectoin's Benefits for Skin & Product Faves
"It's got a lot of goodies in here: peptides, allantoin, squalane, ceramides, bitter melon. It's got a really nice texture. I really like to use this one on my neck. My neck actually really appreciates it. Really nice product. It does contain arnica for whatever that's worth. I'm not a huge crazy fan of arnica on a daily basis, but for some people it works nicely, and for bruises and things like that, arnica is worth trying."

Have Mature Skin? Why Exosomes Might Be The Key for Collagen & Rejuvenation
"They just released this EXO exosome retinol alternative intensive barrier repair balm which also uses exosomes in here and it's got a lot of nice ingredients in here. It's a nice, really thick moisturizer type product. I tend to use this one in my evening routine but it's a really nice product and it's much more affordable compared to these other ones."
Best Revitalizing Moisturizers That Leave Skin Super Plump and Hydrated Overnight
"It's got ectoin, growth factors, fossil F, lipids, beta glucan, lactobacillus ferment. It's really nice and it's got kind of an interesting little pump design too. You can just put it on your skin after your serums and it feels really nice, nice and hydrating. I like the packaging. It's on the pricey side but it's got a lot of good ingredients in here."
New Hyped Anti-Aging Skincare from Numbuzin & Skinfix First Impressions Review & Trial
"Got tons of peptides in here, 10% glycerin which tends to be sticky and tacky but this doesn't feel sticky. I mean it's a little bit tacky but it feels really nice on my skin. A lot of times glycerin-based stuff tends to look too shiny and feels really greasy and I don't notice that at all. Beta glucan I love that stuff. Ectoin again, ectoin is amazing for an ingredient, it's literally one of those ingredients that does everything that you could ask for. It's an antioxidant, it's soothing, it's hydrating. Ectoin binds to lipids on the skin to help stabilize the skin's moisture barrier. It does that, it's an amazing ingredient. I mean it does everything so I'm excited to see it finally getting some attention. I've got probably five peptides in here and some ceramides so it feels really nice and I like it."

"I got it from SkinFix, it's their Barrier+ EXO+ Ectoin Intensive Repair Balm, and it has this really interesting pump. It's like a lighter balm than a petrolatum balm and I think it feels really nice, especially here in Miami where it's been so humid. The weather's been so weird, it's been humid and yet slightly cold, so this is a nice balm to apply. It doesn't feel too heavy, it's like a thick moisturizer. I like this product a lot."
