What the gurus are saying

Experts found this cream smooths fine lines, plumps skin, and restores barrier health with a lipid blend that mirrors the skin's natural composition, making it especially valued for mature and very dry skin or as support when starting retinoids. The main trade-off: the price is steep for the amount, and it contains fragrance and essential oils, which those with sensitive skin may want to patch test first before full-face use. A little goes a long way, with one jar lasting about a year.

"It did reduce wrinkles all over the face. I have used this product and I just didn't enjoy it. I didn't really like the texture of it. I didn't love the smell of it. So it's not my personal favorite. But if you're interested in using a science-backed product to help with things like fine lines and wrinkles, it may be worth a try. I actually prefer the SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. It doesn't have that same targeting process, but I think in terms of how my skin feels, just like the experience of using the triple lipid, it's just so much better. And that product also has a huge cult following for that reason, and also because it works really well for mature skin."

"This is the SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. This one replenishes essential skin lipids like ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in the exact proportions that are in your skin. It has that optimal ratio to restore the healthy barrier. It leaves your skin really nice and plump and smooth and nourished. It just feels heavenly on your skin. The key ingredients are 2% ceramides, 4% cholesterol, and 2% fatty acids."

Save vs Splurge: Dermatologist-Approved Skincare Picks That Are Actually Worth It
"The splurge option here is definitely SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. It's $155 for 48 mls. It replenishes essential skin lipids, the ceramides, the cholesterol, and the fatty acids in those ratios. The 2:4:2 is the optimal ratio to restore that healthy barrier. Leaves your skin absolutely plump, smooth, and nourished. It has 2% ceramides, 4% cholesterol, and 2% fatty acids. It's really ideal for that mature or very dry skin, especially after procedures when the barrier is going to need extra support because of that ideal ratio."

"The SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore is bougie but amazing."

"This is one of the best moisturizers that's ever been created. This blend of moisturizing ingredients is very similar to what we see in the natural skin barrier. There is a ratio of fatty acids to cholesterol that we normally see in the skin, and this product is meant to replicate the natural healthy skin barrier. It's quite expensive though, and you don't get much for that, you get 1.6 fluid ounces and the product's over $100. The trouble with this product is that it would have been perfect had they not added fragrances to it. If they had just made this a fragrance-free product, I would say it's one of the better products out there. My two qualms with it are the price point for a moisturizer, and the fact that you took this great blend of restorative lipids and mixed it in with fragrances. Moisturizers are there to help heal dry and damaged skin, that's vulnerable skin, that's their job. So when you add something like fragrance to it, that's problematic."

"Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 is the ratio of lipids, cholesterol, and ceramides uniquely tweaked to better support our skin because our skin lipid profile changes with age. That unique ratio really helps deliver better results. This moisturizer is really nourishing but not super greasy or shiny or heavy. I really love it for nighttime, but it has actually been shown to reduce that retinization period, so that initial period when one first starts a topical retinol or retinoid when we get a little irritated, flaky, red. This moisturizer has been shown to actually reduce that amount of irritation and the timeline for that irritation to exist. It's a great pair for anyone looking for a moisturizer to support their skin barrier and complement their topical retinoid use."

"Their triple lipid restore 2:4:2 contains a complex of ratios of ceramides to lipids that really is designed to help nourish and support the skin as we age because the lipids in our skin does change over time. This moisturizer is rich, really ideal for more dry and mature sun damaged skin, and actually has been shown in clinical studies to help reduce that retinization period, AKA reduce irritation when one is first starting a topical retinoid. The triple lipid restore does contain essential oil, so for individuals that have sensitive skin or sensitivity to essential oil this may be something you want to be careful of, maybe consider patch testing if you do have sensitive skin before using all over on the face."

"This cream has 2% ceramides, 4% natural cholesterol, and 2% fatty acids. With this combination, while it doesn't fill in fine lines and wrinkles completely, it smooths them out very beautifully. This is a very thick cream, so one cream will last you easily a year even if you use it every single day or even twice a day. If your skin is very dry, I highly recommend it. It has mild fragrance, almost negligible fragrance, but it is a really beautiful cream."

"A triple lipid by SkinCeuticals is a nice one if you're very dry or in a very dry climate you might want to supplement this with a thick rich basic moisturizer, but gel moisturizers can take you just where you need to be without overpowering your skin."
