What the gurus are saying

Experts praise this as a multitasking hydrator that goes beyond basic moisture, with ingredients shown in clinical studies to stimulate the skin's own hyaluronic acid production and support the extracellular matrix. Those dealing with fine lines find it helpful for spot treatment or layering alongside Botox to extend results, and dermatologists note it pairs well with retinoids at night to ease dryness and irritation. One reviewer noted the formula had begun to shift in color during shipping, which may signal the product is sensitive to age and storage.

"It's definitely vitamin C. It smells like vitamin C. The only thing I can't get over is when I get my Geek and Gorgeous vitamin C, it's clear, you know what I mean? This stuff, although I guess it was mailed to me in December so it's already a little old, so I guess I should give it some slack for that. But it's nice, it's fine. It's got good ingredients in it."

"SkinCeuticals has come out with a neuropeptide peptide serum called the P.T.O. serum, and I have patients on it, I use it, my wife uses it. It's a great way to not only increase collagen production, but it makes my fine lines and wrinkles on my forehead and around the eyes seem less apparent. Their whole technology is to mimic Botox, so when you have dynamic wrinkles from movement and expressions, you want to soften those, and this does help to some degree in decreasing the contraction. Do you need to be on Botox for this to work? No, you can just go ahead and use it without Botox and you can see benefits with it. I haven't used Botox in a long time, actually, and just the P.T.O., and I feel like it's really made me feel like I don't need Botox as readily. It can help complement or even extend the efficacy of your Botox, but if you're not on it, it will mimic it too. It's 158, 160 bucks for a dropper bottle, but it lasts a while because I only do it every other day."

"I think of this as beyond just a hydrating serum. You can certainly use it like that, but it's a multitasking serum. You can use it to spot treat areas that have fine lines and wrinkles to help soften those areas locally, or to complement your neurotoxin modulator injection, aka Botox injections, to further improve those fine lines and wrinkles or maybe even help to prolong the effects of your Botox. The ingredients are really fascinating. First of all, it contains 10% proxalin, which is a birch tree derived ingredient that basically has been shown to stimulate our skin's own internal glycoproteins and glucose aminoglycans that basically helps to plump the skin and support the extracellular matrix, which basically helps to give our skin that elasticity and that is what we tend to lose over time. In addition to hyaluronic acid, it also contains 2% licorice root along with purple rice extract that helps to stimulate our skin's own natural production of hyaluronic acid. They actually did clinical studies performing skin biopsies on the forearm of patients before and after use."
