What the gurus are saying

This oil melts away makeup and sunscreen with just a few pumps and rinses off cleanly without leaving a film, earning consistent praise for its lightweight texture and gentle performance even on sensitive skin. Most gurus highlight its suitability for beginners and acne-prone skin alike, though a few note the fragrance (described as subtle citrus or botanical) may bother those reducing scent exposure, and one dermatologist expressed concern about potential pigmentation risk in certain skin tones. The price point draws repeated mention as a standout strength.

"This is another globally viral cleansing oil. Similar to the Anua one, it's more oil like, not too heavy, so even if you're a newbie you can still start with it. It has Centella in it. If you're okay with Centella that's totally fine, and for me it was okay."

I Tested 17 Skin1004 Products… Here’s What I’d Actually Repurchase
"Great, a great beginner oil cleanser. Even if you usually hate oils, this one is very easy to like, it removes light makeup completely with oil alone. The texture is very watery so you might use more than you expect, but performance-wise it's smooth, gentle, effective. Yes."

"This one is more popular outside Korea and I've used it for years. It rolls really well and feels pretty lightweight compared to other cleansing oils. I recommend it for oily combo and acne prone skin too."

"This cleansing oil is their number one product, similar oil like texture to the Anua one, so if you're new to cleansing oils, try it out. But I feel it's not erasing 100% of your blackheads. For light makeup like a tinted moisturizer you can remove it fine, but for heavy makeup, I'd definitely recommend something else."

"SKIN1004 is similar to the Anua synthetic oil, low oil content, it emulsifies well, but be careful because it has centella in it and some people react really badly to it, so please test it first. I would only use this when I've only worn sunscreen or really light makeup because it's too light, so I have to pump a lot. Does it erase blackheads and whiteheads? I don't think so. No reaction for me, but I'm not repurchasing it, they made it too mild."
Which is the best Viral TIKTOK Korean Cleansing Oils & Cleansers for you? (NOT sponsored)
"This has a very similar texture to the Anua oil, also watery and synthetic. It's great for traveling. The good thing about this one is it has centella, and the centella line is amazing for anybody who has a lot of redness or very sensitive skin. It totally works well for removing light makeup, it's a very light waterlike texture, great for a cleansing oil newbie, but the heartleaf can react on some people so if you're really sensitive start from this one. I only use it on a light makeup day or a sunscreen only day because I feel the cleansing doesn't work amazingly compared to my favorite."

"I think they focused too much on making this light and mild, so it doesn't cleanse well. Blackhead removal is also difficult with this one, so I only use it on my no makeup days, just to remove my sunscreen."

Cleansing Oils 101: Why Every Skin Type Can Benefit (Yes, Even Oily!) | Dr. Jenny Liu
"This is a great lightweight cleansing oil that contains centella asiatica, which I feel like is really the trademark of the Skin1004 line. It gently removes makeup, sunscreen, impurities. Great for double cleansing. It also can be used alone. It rinses off without leaving much residue and it's great for sensitive skin as well. Ingredient wise, it does contain centella, so it offers some soothing benefits, again why I think it's great for sensitive skin, along with lots of different plant derived oils along with glycerin. So this is a great one too, and it comes in a pretty decent size bottle that takes time to go through, and I do feel like that's the benefit of these cleansing oils, a little bit goes a long way. This is another great option that is lightweight, minimal, does not leave any residue. I think it's also appropriate for acne prone skin, helps to remove everything from your face in a gentle yet effective way."
Dermatologist Review Viral Asian Skincare Products | Dr. Jenny Liu
"I'm a big fan of double cleansing and cleansing balms and oils and definitely highly recommend this one. I definitely feel like this is one that is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and can be used in a couple different ways because of just the wonderful formulation. This is a cleansing oil that's infused with Madagascar centella asiatica that really helps to gently remove everything - makeup, sunscreen, water resistant sunscreen - while hydrating and nourishing your skin but also leaves behind minimal residue. It doesn't feel like you have any greasy film layer on your skin after using it. My favorite way of using it is obviously the first step of double cleansing, but if you're looking for just a good cleansing oil to remove everything at night without needing double cleansing, this can be a really nice product as well. I've even used it around my eyes to remove my waterproof eyeliner and mascara and it does not irritate my eyes or cause burning or stinging sensation. Ingredient-wise, it has centella, different types of plant-derived oils that help you remove impurities but at the same time nourish your skin, and glycerin. If you're looking for a nice cleansing oil that really gets the job done, helps to soothe, hydrate, and soften your skin at the same time but leaves behind minimal residue, this is definitely one worth checking out."

"In the evening I use a cleansing oil, the Skin1004 Centella Light Cleansing Oil. I like it because it's lightweight. It breaks down my makeup. It emulsifies and doesn't leave a film on my skin. But that's personal preference."

"I have called this my absolute favorite cleansing oil in the past, and I completely plowed through an entire bottle of it. Using it again for this video, I don't think I have a cleansing oil that I like more than this even all these years later. It's light, it works really well at removing makeup and sunscreen, it emulsifies beautifully, and it leaves your skin clean, not feeling dried out. You don't necessarily have to follow with a second cleanser, it's really hard to leave residue behind with this product, though if you have oily to normal skin you might prefer to finish with a second cleanser. It also includes essential oils, some of which I typically react to, and yet I don't with this cleanser. This is truly a wonderful cleansing oil, one of the best if not the absolute best, well deserved to be their number three bestseller."

"This was my old favorite cleansing oil. I always liked it. It was easy to use, it was quick, and it removed my makeup with no issues. But it had a bit of fragrance in it, and over the years I've found that the more I can reduce fragrance from my routine in general, the less risky things are."

"I absolutely loved the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. I love it because the company says you don't have to double cleanse with it, you can use it as a one step makeup removing cleanser. I've since found out it's not the only cleansing oil that works that way for me, any good cleansing oil with surfactant that feels light can do the same job, but this one is still great."

"I'm picking the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Cleansing Oil because this is one of very few cleansing oils where you may not necessarily need to double cleanse. I'm a fan of double cleansing, but I do not double cleanse every single night, if I double cleanse every night it just starts to feel a little too hard on my skin. That's why, especially when my skin is feeling a little more irritated, I really like to grab this particular cleansing oil, one step and done, and it doesn't leave any kind of film on your face. This is still my favorite in terms of a one step and done cleansing oil."

"This is the oil cleanser I'm currently using from Skin1004, the Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. I've rather been enjoying this. It is lightweight and it does have a bit of an aroma to it, which is not so bad. I find it to be a superior way to remove eye makeup, um mascara, all that stuff with an oil as opposed to a typical cleanser."

"I got their light cleansing oil and it's really nice. It does have fragrance, kind of has a nice little botanic subtle aroma, not heavy or headache inducing, doesn't radiate up into your sinuses. [...] This light scent, very light textured oil in comparison to some of the other cleansing oils. I really like that."

"I also finished up an oil cleanser. This is the Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil from Skin1004. It does what it's supposed to do, right? Dissolves the cosmetic residue and rinses off. And then you follow with a gentle cleanser, right? That song and dance. It does that. Not my favorite cleansing oil, though. I don't understand why this one is so popular because I don't know. I just didn't like it. It's got fragrance. It's not a heavy scent, though. I'll give them that. Like, I tried out a popular cleansing oil a few years ago that was so strongly scented. It felt like it permeated up into your nasal passages and into your mouth. It was just unpleasant. This is not like that. Like I said, I mean, it's like it does what it's supposed to do. One of the things I did not care for it, it was a little too light. A little too light. Like a little too thin, loose. I like something a little bit thicker."

Dermatologist Shops Costco Skincare Deals | Best Skincare November 2025
"This cleansing oil is really popular from Skin1004, two bottles for $29.99, which is a pretty good value. I love this brand, but the cleansing oil was not my favorite. It's not bad, and it's really a popular cleansing oil, but I didn't like it because the aroma was pretty noticeable, which I don't like in a cleansing oil. And also I felt like it was a little light and a little bit unwieldy, but it works. If I had another one in my possession that was gifted to me or something, I would gladly use it with no complaints, but it's not one I actively seek out. But $29.99, I don't think is a bad price here at Costco."

"I do love Skin1004. I think the aesthetic of their packaging is phenomenal. The whole line sits together, it's amazing. I love the way it looks on your vanity and it's so inexpensive. This cleanser is £4, or the 100ml option is £13. So inexpensive. This cleanser, it's just a really nice cleansing oil. I mean, it's nothing spectacular, it's nothing groundbreaking, it's just a nice affordable cleansing oil. And I think the reason I say it's a must-have is I'm tired of overpaying for cleansing oils and cleansing balms. You don't need to. Something inexpensive like this, you get a lot of product because a little goes a long way is all you need. I think I've been using this up for the past year and it's still going strong. It's just a really really nice cleanser. So I'd say don't overpay for your cleansing oils, just buy this one. It's a must-have because it's a great place to start, but also for us experienced Korean skincare users, it's still, I've yet to find a better cleansing oil. Which is why I keep going back to it."

"I love this cleansing oil. In fact, I'm going to say of all the cleansing oils I have ever tried, this one's just the best. It's great because it's calming and soothing. It's not packed full of lots of fragrance and irritating ingredients. It's great even for the most sensitive skin and it gets everything off. A couple of pumps of this, you apply it to your skin and it just melts away the day. You rinse it off with some lukewarm water and it disappears without a trace. No foam. It doesn't make your eyes blur a little bit like some cleansing oils can. This doesn't do any of that. It's just a really nice product, super inexpensive, really well formulated, and I absolutely love it. My one critique would be the pump on this is a little keen. One pump and it can shoot out, so I tend to cover my hand over it that way you won't end up with cleansing oil all over your mirror everywhere. But it's a really great and affordable product."

"Such a good cleansing oil when it's cold it actually uses a little more chunky so just keep that in mind if you live in a cold environment. It's normally $20 to $21, it's on sale for $15 to $10. For Prime day you can actually bundle it for additional discounts so it comes out to like $11 to $12 if you use coupons."

"This cleansing oil is designed to work on its own and when I tested it on some water resistant products I didn't need to use a second cleanser. This also worked really well for removing waterproof eyeliner, it didn't sting my eyes or leave them blurry, which sometimes happens with cleansing oils. I really like this pump bottle because the pump actually dispenses the right amount of product really easily. The things I don't really like about this product are really just personal preference things for me. I don't really like the scent, it's kind of lemony and citrus, and I also just prefer cleansing balms over cleansing oils because I find these a bit tricky to get onto my face without dripping. But if you're looking for a cleansing oil, especially one that you can use on your eyes or one that doesn't need to be followed up with a second cleanser, then I think this is a fantastic option."
