"Great. This one wins on convenience, no mess, no brush, no effort. It doesn't shrink pores, but compared to just a cleanser it's definitely deeper cleansing, huge points for being easy. On dry skin, using it on the full face is too tight, stick to the T-zone only. The brand says up to 10 to 15 minutes, but I'd say don't go past five. It's best for oily combo skin, once a week, not treatment skincare, just maintenance."

"I avoided it at first just because of the name, but out of the three pore masks it turned out to be the mildest. It is thick, but it goes on smoothly and is super easy to apply, you do not even need your hands or a brush. That said, my skin still felt dry after washing it off, and honestly I am not sure just rubbing this on the surface does much for blackheads. I would rather recommend using a cleansing oil properly instead, it is less aggressive and works a lot better."

"One great option is the Skin 10004 [Centella] Pormizing Quick Clay Stick Mask. This one uses pink clay as well as Kalin clays that again help to absorb that excess oil from the surface of the skin and from within the pore. And this formula also contains sentella to help soothe the skin. It's not overly drying."

"This applies so beautifully, so elegantly. I just don't see the point of ever using my fingers to spread a clay mask ever again. It's got the smoothest, silkiest glide on the skin, but also it's creamy enough to just be a completely effortless application. There's no pulling or dragging on your skin as you use this, and it dispenses just the right amount: a nice thin layer that covers everything, gets in the pores, everything."

"This is probably the best execution I've ever seen of a clay mask in a stick, it glides so nicely across your skin, actually applying instead of just staying in the container [...] the way older versions did. You get a very gentle exfoliation from the seed powder, [...] not too drying, so even normal to a bit dry skin like mine could like it. It's nice not to get your hands and fingernails into it while applying, and it removes easily. It's well done."

"It retails for $15. [...] It's thick but it's beautiful, it's really nice, it doesn't really have any scent. You can even spot treat a pimple with this if you have a blemish or an oily spot, or if your nose is the area of biggest concern for you, just use it on your nose. It's really really nice. The one negative I think is reapplying it on your face, so make sure you're using it on a clean surface and just clean the top off with a Kleenex once you're done."

"The Skin1004 Centella Stick Mask is actually very popular and it's one that is about to be seen more and more online because it's being picked up as a viral product. This is essentially a quick clay mask stick, making it quick and easy and mess-free to mask."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
