What the gurus are saying

Gurus are skeptical of these patches, citing the steep $70 price tag for 12 single-use applications as poor value and environmentally wasteful. A core concern is ingredient mismatches: retinol variants in the formula are not suitable for daytime use due to sun sensitivity, and applying them over sunscreen may compromise the sunscreen's protective layer. The consensus leans toward finding better-value alternatives.

"So this, again, is kind of useless. Again, you've put that sunscreen on, you're ruining that protective layer, that protective film, that the sunscreen is supposed to create."

"Shiseido is very bougie. Seventy dollars for 12 count and they are single use. I'll be honest though, single-use masks have never really been something I love recommending because not only is it not great for the environment, they just tend to be really pricey. Also, just a flag: the ones that Ariana is using have retinol in them, and retinol is an ingredient that you do not want to use during the daytime. That ingredient is meant to be used overnight as it makes your skin really sensitive to the sun."
