What the gurus are saying

The gurus who looked at these patches flagged some practical concerns. The price point (seventy dollars for twelve single-use patches) struck them as steep, especially since the format generates waste without delivering standout results. There's also a formulation issue worth knowing: some versions contain retinol, which is meant for nighttime use only since it makes skin more sun-sensitive during the day, so anyone picking these up would need to check the specific formula and use accordingly.

"So this, again, is kind of useless. Again, you've put that sunscreen on, you're ruining that protective layer, that protective film, that the sunscreen is supposed to create."

"Shiseido is very bougie. Seventy dollars for 12 count and they are single use. I'll be honest though, single-use masks have never really been something I love recommending because not only is it not great for the environment, they just tend to be really pricey. Also, just a flag: the ones that Ariana is using have retinol in them, and retinol is an ingredient that you do not want to use during the daytime. That ingredient is meant to be used overnight as it makes your skin really sensitive to the sun."
