What the gurus are saying

This essence melts into skin without a trace and visibly softens texture within a week, earning praise for its weightless, elegant feel and immediate slip during application. The formula combines two types of hyaluronic acid for hydration across skin layers, fermented kefir extract to support cell turnover, and ethylated ascorbic acid for brightening, all clinically tested to hydrate for 24 hours and enhance how well other products penetrate. Applied straight after cleansing and before serums, it's positioned as a first treatment essence, a lightweight hydrating step that preps skin to absorb what comes next.

"Essences are a huge part of Japanese and Korean skincare culture and they're almost like a watery toner essentially but not used quite the same way. They're put on immediately after cleansing before serum and they do a couple things. Number one, it helps to soften the skin, add back additional hydration to the skin. Two, it helps to actually improve penetration of skincare ingredients through a couple mechanisms because you're rehydrating the skin, but often they will contain ingredients. In particular, in Japanese skincare, essences often contain fermented ingredients that naturally help with fermentation with acids that will actually naturally improve skin cell turnover and thereby enhancing the penetration of ingredients that you use afterwards. This is a really elegant lightweight essence that number one promotes skin moisture balance, improve radiance and dullness and again with ingredients in here improving skin turnover and thereby enhancing the penetration of the products that used afterwards. It helps to visibly improve fatigue making your skin look more bright and energized and refined and ingredient wise contains two types of hyaluronic acid and this is really important because then you can penetrate various layers of the skin improving moisture retention."

"You are literally applying skin care history. I'm talking about Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence. This was Shiseido's first product ever made, ever commercially available, their literal OG in 1897, but it was also the first essence to ever exist. This is a true first treatment essence in that it is weightless in texture. It's elegant. It's refined. It melts into your skin without leaving a trace and immediately softens the texture of the skin. I love that there's a little bit of slip while you're applying. So, it feels really nice and glidy before it just melts. This also smells nostalgic to me. Even after about a week of use, I feel my skin looks brighter. This texture looks more refined. This has been clinically tested for triple action results. So, it will hydrate your skin for 24 hours. There's brightening from the ethylated ascorbic acid, but also what's characteristic of most first treatment essences, which is the pre and probiotic. In this formula, it's the fermented kefir extract."
