Sculptra.

"I would give Sculptra an 8 out of 10. I think it's a great volumizer for the face. We use it oftentimes in the temples and like the cheek hollows. You can also do the cheeks with it. It lasts two to two plus years. It's a biostimulator. I think it's good because it's a natural biostimulator, not filler. So you're not going to have that risk of being overfilled or looking unnatural from it. The negative of it is the results are still modest. You're not going to get a facelift out of it. But the positive is usually minimal downtime, especially if you add the exosomes on top of it. Just do it safely. Make sure that whoever's doing it, they don't do it overly aggressively because you can potentially lose fat if it's done too aggressively."

"The first thing I did is Sculptra, which is a biostimulator. It's injected into certain regions of the face, for example the temples, right around the mouth, through here. It's designed to allow your body to naturally produce collagen. Sculptra has been around for a very long time. It's composed of poly lactic acid, which is kind of similar to what we make absorbable sutures out of, and the idea behind Sculptra is that it comes as a powder, we mix that powder with sterile water, and then inject that mixture under areas of the skin that creates a biostimulating effect to create collagen in those areas that it's injected. I've been doing Sculptra injections for over 20 years, and it was first FDA approved for people who have HIV lipodystrophy. When people have HIV and they're on HIV medications, often times they would lose fat in the face, and this was a very early treatment to help regain some of that lost volume. Well, it's been used cosmetically once again for over 20 years. It is a very gradual biostimulating filler, and in my practice we use it mainly for the temples and the cheek hollows."

"If you are considering filler injections, please only have them done in the office of a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon and only get fillers that are either hyaluronic acid based fillers like Restylane or Juvederm or Sculptra injections. I think that is a very underrated minimally invasive option."

In addition to getting that collagen support with Sculptra, people will notice that their skin looks a little bit more luminous, which is called the Sculptra glow, and they'll have a little bit of decreased laxity or sagging, so for a lot of my patients who are just starting to see an early jowl, Sculptra is a great option. The other thing is Sculptra doesn't just have to be used in the face because it adds natural looking volume and enhances tissue quality. You can use it in other places like the upper inner arm and in the buttocks to enlarge the buttocks without doing a fat transfer. Sculptra can also be used in the chest to improve skin quality there and help with those vertical wrinkles that a lot of women notice over time. You have to be so patient with your Sculptra treatments because it really can take months to see those amazing results."

"Sculptra the skin actually thickens up a little bit and you can get a little bit more natural looking fullness. Sculptra is a great injectable for people who are sinkers because you can kind of use it throughout the face to just add a little bit of volume without making it look like the patient is puffy. I have had Sculptra in my temples because that's an area that gets quite hollow in people as they get older, and I don't have like a huge filled out temple now. I'm not trying to look like a light bulb head either. I don't want to add too much volume because I feel like that becomes detectable. I'm just trying to restore a little bit. I also have a little bit of Sculptra just like right through this area here so that I don't get too hollow and it's not going to be perfect and I'm not trying to look perfect. I'm just trying to restore volume in areas that I tend to lose it so that I look more just like myself and more refreshed."

"Sculptra comes as a powder, it's a collagen stimulator that produces, essentially stimulates your body to produce more collagen so you can get an increase in skin thickness and you can use it in other areas of the face and you can sometimes get an increase in volume. You can dilute it more for the under-eye area in a delicate setting. It's injected underneath the eye area and it just stimulates a little bit of collagen improvement in volume. Personally in my practice I don't really do it so much, but it's something that's really popular in Asia. I prefer poly nuzes because they're a lot safer."
