    What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen earns consistent praise for its weightless, non-greasy texture that layers smoothly and leaves skin looking plump and blurred, with no white cast or fragrance. The formula stands out for pairing five chemical filters with hydrolysed collagen and a retinoid (granactive retinoid), plus Round Lab's own antioxidant complex, backed by clinical testing showing reduced pore size after four weeks. Those with acne-prone skin will likely appreciate the absence of heavy silicones, harsh alcohols, and acneic triggers, though the retinoid means patch-testing first makes sense if you're new to the ingredient or already using tretinoin.

"I was hesitant to try this one because I thought it would be too heavy on my skin, but once I started using it, my god, it is so lightweight while still adding a nice splash of hydration. It absorbs quickly while giving a nice plump, glowy, glass skin look without feeling too heavy. From an ingredient perspective it's definitely not the best of the best, the ingredients are fine and it's fragrance free, but nothing particularly stands out. Still, the experience alone is really nice, and I understand why it's so popular, it's a great sunscreen for someone who has combination to dry leaning skin."

"This is the Round Lab Camellia Sun Serum. I'm wearing it today underneath my Dr. Jart BB cream. Mine is almost empty, but I'm loving it and it's certainly one that I would repurchase in a heartbeat. My skin just feels like it has a little bit more of a glow when I use this one. It's a chemical sunscreen with five filters, Uvinul T 150, Mexoryl SX, Uvinul A Plus, Parsol SLX, and Tinosorb S, a great combination of UVB and UVA filters. It's also got urea, soluble collagen, and quercetin in it. It's wonderful, no scent to it. It's one of my favorite sunscreens lately."

"This is the Round Lab Deep Firming Collagen Sun Serum, which is really nice chemical sunscreen. This one always gives you a little bit of a shiny finish. And then once I put on my foundation or if I just set it with a powder, it pretty much soaks in and sets to a natural finish."

"Round Lab Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Sun Serum is another chemical sunscreen with five chemical filters. In addition to that, it's got hydrolyzed collagen, niacinamide, and keratin. It's got a lightweight texture, but it appears on skin with a little bit of a slight glowing finish and works well under foundation. No scent or anything like that. Really nice sun serum for 23 bucks."

"The Round Lab Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Sun Serum is the one I just love currently. It's about 23 bucks, it's fragrance free and alcohol-free. This one uses a lot of good newer filters. It uses Juvenile T150, Maxural SX, Juvenile A+, Parasol SLX, and Tinsorb S. So it's got a wide variety of UVB and UVA filters in there."

"For my favorite sunscreen at the moment, I'm absolutely loving this. The Round Lab Collagen Firming Sun Serum. I am loving this stuff. So far I am stunned by this sunscreen because when I wear it towards the end of the day, my skin doesn't look flaky. It doesn't look dry. It doesn't look greasy. For me, it's really wonderful sunscreen. And yesterday when we left the cabin, I was too lazy to do makeup and I literally just put this sunscreen on and nothing else. And when I got home, my skin looked and felt really nice. I don't see a lot of sunscreens that really just do a nice job throughout the day and feel nice. It just feels really natural and feels really nice on your skin."

"Round Lab released their Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Sun Serum. And this is a really nice chemical sunscreen with a lotion texture and no fragrance. It's super lightweight, so you can layer it on pretty easily. And I love the fact that it's got no scent to it. They use five filters in it. Round Lab's done a great job with their sunscreens. I love it. I'm already been all the way down here with it."

"It's a chemical sunscreen with five chemical filters, which are not US filters, thank goodness. We've got UVL T150, mexural SX, UVL A+, poly silicone 15, and tinsurb S. Looks like it's fragrance-free. Soluble collagen is a nice hydrating ingredient. I'll definitely be picking this one up when I get a chance."

No scent, no alcohol. Applies pretty transparently. It's on sale for 19 bucks. This stuff's pretty nice. I really enjoy it. If you're looking for a nice sunscreen, I've yet to get burned using it, so I can't say the same about some other sunscreens, but this stuff is nice."
My Top 13 Current Skincare Product Favorites 💪 Best for Firming, Plumping, & Fighting Fine Lines
"This is my current go-to sunscreen that I'm loving. It's really nice for winter. It has no scent to it at all. No chemical scent, no scent. No denatured alcohol. It layers pretty well under makeup and it's a little bit on the radiant finish. So if you use makeup or powder underneath it, that kind of takes care of that. Love this stuff. Good filters. Wonderful sunscreen, especially for the winter time."
Round Lab 🆕😎🌞New Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Sun Serum Sunscreen SPF 50+ First Impressions
"It doesn't feel greasy. It doesn't feel absorbent like a lot of sunscreens that contain [dimethicone] or too many silicones that make them feel thick or heavy on your skin. This one does not at all. It's more of a serum. I love the fact that they include five different chemical filters, non-US filters. It feels pretty nice on my skin. It seems to layer well over other products. Some sunscreens get so greasy and it's hard to apply foundation over them, or some are so matte or just thick. Some of the US ones are just so smelly from their terrible filters. This one feels really nice. The makeup feels like it applies pretty naturally over it. Most skin types will probably appreciate this. There's not a lot of acneic ingredients for acne-prone skin. There's no thick silicones or harsh alcohols in here, which is nice. And there's no scent at all. Not a fragrance scent, not a chemical scent, not an alcohol scent, none of that."

"This has pretty much zero fragrance. It has no white cast as well, and it dries with a sort of glowy skin smoothing finish. This finish was the thing that I found most unique and impressive about this sunscreen. It says it uses ultrafine priming particles to fill in fine lines and blur to create a smooth looking skin, and that's definitely what I noticed. It just made my skin look really nice and smooth and plump. I think this is fantastic, especially if you're not planning to use foundation on top, if you're planning to go makeup free. It is really hydrating, and I think this is probably from all the different types of hydrolysed collagen they have in this. They have a whole bunch of different ones. Another super interesting thing about this sunscreen for me is that it contains a retinoid. It is hydroxypinacolone retinoate or granactive retinoid. And it's really interesting to see it in a sunscreen. It's obviously there for this anti-aging formula. It also has microcooling capsules which are meant to be cooling on application. It also has a UV aging barrier, which is Round Lab's own ingredient mix containing arginine and quercetin. These are antioxidants that can soak up free radical damage, which UV does cause. This also has a bunch of clinical testing for the anti-aging claims. So for example, it's got reduced pore size after 4 weeks, which I think is pretty cool. With sunscreens, most of the time I'm just looking at texture, wearability, and UV protection. I usually just ignore the other added skincare benefits, but for this one, I think they're actually pretty cool."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

    Source: DermNet

    Urea

Urea both holds water in the skin and gently loosens dead surface cells. At higher strengths it has good evidence for very dry or thickened skin.

    Source: DermNet

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
