    What the gurus are saying

This cushion foundation delivers a dewy, glossy finish that looks naturally glowing in real life. The hyaluronic acid-infused formula applies smoothly without primer, even layered over heavy moisturizer, and delivers sheer-to-light coverage that lets skin show through naturally. Those with oily skin report it settles beautifully with a luminous finish rather than greasiness, and the formula packs skincare ingredients like ceramide and niacinamide that actually benefit your skin.

"I love this, it's so lightweight, it's got a nice dewy finish. I don't have to wear primers with it or anything like that. I can just apply this after my moisturizer, even if I've really layered up my hydration, even if I've used a heavy moisturizer, this doesn't skid around my skin. It just applies flawlessly, effortlessly. I've got it on now with this dewy, very natural looking glow to it. It's hard to find a lot of Korean cushion foundations that say they have a dewy finish but really do, like they're maybe a little bit shiny but it's not hydrating feeling and watery like this one."

"This is the Romand Bare Water Cushion, it comes in five colors, my color being the darkest which is sand 25. It's got like a net on it instead of like a sponge, which you usually find in cushions that have like a really hydrating feel to them. This is like a hyaluronic acid infused foundation, and its key thing is keeping you looking dewy and plump throughout the day, and it really does. It goes on so smooth and so easy. It's more of like a BB cream in the sense that it doesn't have full coverage, some of the redness shows through my skin still, which I like. I like my skin to look natural, but it does just give your skin that extra little oomph, that extra little something to it. But it's that dewy glossy finish that I really really like that honestly doesn't look great on camera but it looks so much better in real life because it looks natural. I love it so much. I got loads of refills, six refills, that's how much I'm going through it and how much I never want to be without it."

"This is the perfect compact cushion for you, it's so easy to apply, [...] and what I love about this particular compact is that you can layer up, you can build on it, so it starts off very sheer to light coverage, [...] my skin still looks natural, glowy, dewy and healthy, but we also have sodium hyaluronate, ceramide, niacinamide, panthenol, a ton of skincare ingredients that are actually beneficial for your skin."

"This has become one of my absolute favorite foundations. This is like a perfect match foundation match for me, but you'll see the glow on this. As an oily person, I like to have a glow to my skin but I don't want to be greasy. I've worn this on a whole day. I wore this to an event recently and it really lasted amazingly on my oily oily skin. It's just the most beautiful foundation. I've actually out of fear, I don't know why, ordered four refills for it because I've never found a foundation that has this finish that works on oily skin. It almost like settles onto the skin and has this like glasslike finish."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
