LHA is a derivative of salicylic acid, and it's oil soluble, so it gets into the pore lining and can help break up the blockage at the source, which matters because pore blockage is literally one step in how acne forms. Willow bark adds a natural BHA component, and ginger root extract and glycerin keep it from being too stripping. The instruction to massage it for 30 to 60 seconds is actually important, not just filler copy. The brand recommends using this AM and PM, but if you're already using the mandelic acid serum at night you're starting to stack exfoliation up multiple times a day, so if your skin is on the more sensitive side I would start with this cleanser just once a day and see how it responds before going twice a day.
