What the gurus are saying

This brightener adds a subtle luminous glow that looks fresh and natural rather than cakey, and it layers beautifully over other products without creasing for most people. The serum-like texture means it works on its own if you want a barely-there brightening effect, or it can sit smoothly under concealer for those who prefer more coverage. A few have reported it creases on them, so patch-testing over your usual foundation routine first may help you know if it will play well with your setup.

"I absolutely love this product. This is the Rare Beauty Under Eye Brightener. I really, really like this product. This is quite unique in that it's not really concealer. It's kind of to go either just under your eyes when you're not wearing makeup to add a little bit of brightness, a little bit of light, but without having to use layers and layers of concealer, that can sometimes start to look a little bit cakey and a little bit heavy. This just adds a touch of brightness, a touch of light to those areas. And I think it's really beautiful. I did see some people saying that it was creasing on them, that it didn't sit well on top of their foundation, on top of their concealer. But I really like it because I find it serum-like, and it really, really sits beautifully on top of other products. This just by itself adds a brightness to that area. It hasn't added necessarily color. It's added a brightness to that area. Imagine this in small amounts under the eye when you're not wearing makeup and you just want to look a little bit fresher faced. It looks natural."

"I really do love the formula. It's just such a nice lightweight brightening glowy type of a product and you'll see how pretty it looks under the eyes. It doesn't look makeupy at all. You could honestly just stop here and not even go into concealer if this offers the coverage that you're looking for. By itself is gorgeous."
