What the gurus are saying

This liquid contour earns praise for blending seamlessly without looking muddy or overdone, making it forgiving to apply even with a heavier hand. However, the shades split noticeably by skin tone. On deeper skin tones, gurus say it performs beautifully as both contour and bronze, but on fair to medium skin, the cooler-toned shades lean more toward sculpting bronzer than true contour, so those with fairer complexions may want to use it for everyday definition rather than full glam looks or apply it higher on the face for a lifting effect.

"One last thing in makeup is the Rare Beauty Liquid Contour. I have tried a lot of different contours, bronzers. This one has got me right now. I just love it. I love the shades that this comes in. And this shade is perfect. So many of them are so warm that they kind of look orange or they're so cool that they look gray. And this one is just the perfect shade. This shade is called Mellow. And it's not too dark, not too light. What I love about this is how easy it blends. You can't make a mistake with this. It's not like most things where you can put on too much and then you're like, "Oh, where am I blending this to?" This just blends out so beautifully and it looks so great on the skin and it's very subtle. So you can do your contouring but it doesn't look like you're contoured. You don't want to have these muddy looking, dirty looking stripes all over your face to do your contouring. You just want it to look natural. And this is such a beautiful product for that. Absolutely love it."

"The contour product that I've been basically exclusively using for the past couple of months is this one from Rare Beauty. This is their liquid contour. I have the lightest shade, called Gentle, and it's just great. This one is more cool toned than their others, but once it's applied for me, it actually applies pretty neutral. So I feel like it works as kind of like a sculpting bronzer. Some of the other shades I've heard people say lean much more bronzery, so just keep that in mind. It might not be a contour product for everyone, but I just take a little bit of that on the back of my hand and apply my contour higher than I used to. Once you blend it in, you can see it still sculpts, but it lifts. I've been doing that with this. I do my contour prior to my concealer, especially for everyday. I just feel like it's easier. It allows me to be a little bit messy with the contour and then I can clean up everything after I apply it."

My Honest Review of All The New Makeup...
"What I loved about this is how natural it looks, it's a really really natural contour. So if you're scared of a more cool-toned contour product, don't be with this one. This is very user-friendly, very everyday appropriate. For me this shade worked great on my fair skin. I really loved how it was able to shape and it still warmed up my complexion without me feeling overdone. So for me this is very much an everyday type of contour. If I was doing a full full glam I think I would reach for something with a little more pigment just to really get that kind of look and structure, but for every day I think this is a real winner."

"These aren't contours on the fairer skin tones and the medium skin tones. On the deeper skin tones, people love them and they look really beautiful on the skin. I will still use these to bronze. I love this bronze. But in my contour shades, I don't want it to be able to double as a blusher. On fairer skin tones, I would not use this as a contour because it does come out cool and light. As I tan, I will use them, but contours, not so much. If they brought out some contour shades in this formula, I would love that. But I'm not a fan of what these products claim to be."
