"The other fillers commonly injected are called biostimulatory fillers, essentially known here in the US as Radiesse or hydroxy appetite. Even though they're injected similarly on the face as one would with HA fillers, they differ slightly in this sense. With traditional HA fillers you basically get what you see, when it's injected into skin it's there, it's instant. With the biostimulatory fillers, as the name implies, they don't really give you that instant gratification. Instead they help to stimulate your skin, your body to build collagen over time, usually over a period of like three to six months. They do help with the flattening of our facial features, helping with deep folds and wrinkles. It's not like one is better than the other. Honestly, for someone seeking dermal fillers for rejuvenation and improving signs of aging, the biostimulatory as well as HA fillers really complement each other and give you a more comprehensive and better result."

"Radiesse is a filler but it's also a bio stimulator and there's not anything on the market right now other than Radiesse that does this. It creates five different things for your skin: collagen one, collagen three, elastin, proteoglycans which is that glow that you get from any of the treatments, and then the angiogenesis which is that blood perfusion. So you're getting the healthiest tissue that you could possibly get with 16 things more than what one filler would do for you. With the protocol that I have, one treatment includes 20 syringes with full correction, and you'll grow anywhere between one to three inches with each treatment. It's a very malleable product and it works great with everyone's tissue."

"Radiesse is made out of calcium hydroxylapatite and basically what this is, it's a cream based filler that is going to stimulate collagen. It's going to be the gift that keeps on giving because once the filler starts going down the collagen is going to start building up over the next 6 weeks and this stuff stays around for about 2 years. This is not your typical filler, this is a biomodulator. The difference between a hyaluronic acid filler is that it's a gel form that hydrates, and it stays in there for what 3 to 4 months depending on which one it could be from a year to 3 years. Radiasse is very different in that this is a biomodulator that is cream based and is not dissolvable."

"Radiesse is one of the permanent or near-permanent fillers that I am definitely not a fan of. While these fillers may get you the result you're looking for at least initially, my concern is if you develop a complication. If you have too much filler injected, how do you get rid of them? With hyaluronic acid fillers there is an antidote called hyaluronidase which is an enzyme that can melt that filler away. If you get the dreaded intravascular occlusion where filler is accidentally injected into an artery causing loss of blood flow to a part of your face, we can try to melt that filler away and reestablish the blood flow. The problem is if you have one of these permanent or semi-permanent non-HA fillers and you get a complication like this, then you're basically just kind of screwed. You can do supportive treatments like warm compresses or hyperbaric oxygen, but if you've got an intravascular occlusion and you have a part of your face that's not getting enough blood supply because that filler has clogged up that blood vessel, there's no antidote to remove that filler from the blood."

"Radiesse is a calcium derivative, it is a much firmer filler. It is not made up of hyaluronic acid and you cannot break it up the same way you can break up hyaluronic acid. You also do not metabolize it the same way as you metabolize hyaluronic acid. When you inject Radiesse in your face, especially along your bone or your jawline, when you take an x-ray you can actually see it because of the calcium. It can give you a firmer looking appearance to your face. The good news is it doesn't last forever in that sense, because you don't want it to last forever and you want to grow with your face."
