What the gurus are saying

This moisturizer earns consistent praise for feeling deceptively hydrating despite its light, elegant texture, it sinks in without heaviness and leaves skin with a natural finish rather than a greasy one. The formula packs five types of ceramides alongside cholesterol and fatty acids, the trio dermatologists say works to lock moisture in and prevent water loss from the skin. It works well under makeup and around the eye area, making it versatile across seasons and skin types, though those with very dry skin or using it in colder months may find it most useful.

"Since maybe right before spring, I've been plowing through Purito's Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer with ceramides. This is just that kind of moisturizer you fall in love with the minute it touches your face. The application really is that elegant. It's got that beautiful light creaminess, but it feels very, very hydrating as well. [...] I called it deceptively moisturizing because it feels so hydrating when you're applying it. And it does actually feel lightish, but it's got some magic to it. And it leaves the skin with this beautiful healthy natural finish. This has everything your skin needs for a really healthy skin barrier. It's got that holy trifecta of five different types of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids to just really prevent any kind of transepidermal water loss. This is also great under makeup, which makes this a great daytime moisturizer during the fall and winter. In fact, I often use it around my eye area as well, so it's just kind of that one-stop lazy girl moisturizer. During the spring and summer even, I loved using this as an evening moisturizer because there was something about it that was so replenishing and soothing after a day in the sun. [...] This has just become that all occasion moisturizer for me."

New Affordable Korean Beauty for Summer!
"I want to add as a spring favorite from Purito their Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer with ceramides. This was love at first application. I've been using this non-stop and will continue to through the summer. This has a light creamy texture and it feels instantly soothing and even hydrating when you apply it, and it is deceptively moisturizing without being heavy at all. It does sink and dry down but it leaves your skin feeling really beautifully moisturized and leaves a natural finish. It gives you everything your skin barrier needs. It's got the holy trifecta for skin barriers: fatty acids, cholesterols, and five different types of ceramides. There's just so much elegance to it and it's great under makeup. This isn't so heavy that I'm actually even able to use it around my eyes when I'm just too lazy to use a separate eye cream."

"The Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer is a fantastic ceramide cholesterol fatty acid moisturizer with a medium texture. It's not too heavy but just enough for combo skin that suffers with some dryness, folks that are going through some barrier issues and need a more protective moisturizer that's not too greasy, that's not too occlusive, that still allows your skin to breathe. I think it's criminally underrated as a moisturizer in K Beauty, but I think it can hold its weight and punch above its class quite honestly with the best of them like Illiyoon and the Aveeno Eczema Therapy Cream. Those products get all the hype in the world and deservedly so, but this particular one is criminally underrated. I'm making it official: it's one of my favorite moisturizers of 2024."

"I'm using the Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer. It's a really lovely medium moisturizer, very barrier supportive, another one with a good amount of ceramides and cholesterol and fatty acids in it. Medium weight so it's absolutely perfect for my combo skin that's starting to feel a little bit more dry but trying to keep things on the whole a little bit more balanced in this in between weather. And it just sinks in like a dream. It feels so smooth and so soft and my skin feels really great."

Favorite Cold Weather Moisturizers - 2024 Edition
"I really like the texture of this because it is a cream texture but it's a little bit more fluffy, it's not quite as dense, it's not like full on buttery, and so it actually has this really nice spreadability to it. It feels really breathable, but it actually dives deep into the skin with moisture. It feels very nourishing, very skin softening like your skin is going to feel quite soft and supple. It makes your skin feel really silky but it does all the moisturization inside. What I mean by that is it is protective, it is nourishing, but it's not leaving like a layer of moisturizer on top that feels greasy. You can almost wipe it away. It's definitely not shiny at the top either. It just has really great absorbancy into the skin. It feels medium weight but on the lighter side of medium. This one's definitely a little bit more airy, a little bit more breathable while being medium on the lighter side of that. I think that this would actually function quite well if you do have oily skin but you're looking for a nighttime moisturizer, something that's a little bit more restorative, protective, something that's a little bit more repairing for your skin. You don't want to wear something really heavy during the daytime because that might trigger a little bit more oil for you or feel heavy, but if you like something a bit more nourishing at night time, like this would be the one I would recommend."

"This is the Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer and I really like this one because it's got [ceramide] and linoleic fatty acids, it's focused on the barrier like the name. But it's a really nice, decently nourishing, rich, medium-weight cream. It's not overly greasy, it's not overly heavy. I think that it really works well like I said for combo skin that's leaning dry. I really like this one."

"I really like this moisturizer. It's got five different types of ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids. It's very barrier supportive. It's got this beautiful silky medium weight texture that's very nourishing for the skin. I think combination skin will enjoy this, some dry skin types I think will enjoy this. It could be a good night cream for oily skin folks if you like something more nourishing, especially like in cold weather. Really, really beautiful, fantastic, great absorbency, no stickiness, no heaviness, no greasiness. I forgot how good this is. It is really great and especially for a season like right now if you're in the Northern Hemisphere and experiencing slightly colder weather, maybe your barrier's feeling a little bit tested, this is a great barrier supportive moisturizer."

"This is their Dermid Relief Barrier Moisturizer with ceramides for soothing hydration. I love a good ceramide cream and I love when a brand comes out with their own take. I was looking forward to what Purito had to offer. I do feel like with their launches they've kind of tried to release a heavier cream to a lighter cream, but for me and my oily skin, they're all just a little bit too heavy and suffocating on the skin. This is their take on the very popular CeraVe ceramides to help strengthen the skin barrier. For me, this is one of those creams that you rub in and it's just white everywhere and you keep rubbing it in and it's white for some reason. You're getting a cold sweat on your top lip and you're pushing it around. It's caught in your facial hair, it's calling your eyebrows. And then once you're done it's just kind of matte on your skin. You're thinking, why was that so thick and why did that take so long? The user experience of this isn't very nice. That's throughout all the different kinds of Dermid creams. It's honestly everything I dislike about ceramide cream. It feels clinical, it's thick, it makes you feel like there's something wrong with you when you're using it because the products feel like prescription-only products that you just have to deal with to sort out your skin. It kind of reminds me of having to use all the old acne products I used to have to use as a teenager that weren't very nice to use but they did the job. I'm kind of disappointed because I really thought they'd get the formulation down. I just went straight back to my Aestura cream because for me that's a fail-safe cream to use and will do its job and help restore my barrier."

"The Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer [...] is a gorgeous luscious moisturizer that is packed with ceramides, ingredients that naturally exist in our skin that help keep our moisture barrier intact and keep our skin barrier supported. This is an incredible fall and winter time moisturizer or if you have really dry skin I think this could be used year round. The other really nice thing about this Purito moisturizer is that it's huge like for a face moisturizer, 3.38 ounces, so that is a lot of value."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Source: DermNet

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
