    What the gurus are saying

This shampoo earns consistent praise for its creamy texture and ability to deeply hydrate dry, color-treated hair while protecting color vibrancy. Jojoba oil delivers shine and moisture without heaviness, and the blend of green tea extract and sage helps shield hair from UV damage and supports a healthy scalp. The luxurious fragrance experience is a bonus several gurus appreciated, though the main draw remains the hydration and smoothing benefits for those with compromised or frizz-prone strands.

"My splurge pick is the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo. This one deeply hydrates dry, color-treated hair while helping to restore your vibrancy. It helps to smooth your frizz, soften strands, and improve your manageability of your hair. This one has Joba oil, which moisturizes and adds that shine without weighing down your hair and making it feel heavy. I also really like that it has green tea extract for some of that antioxidant protection. We know a lot of our hair gets damaged by UV, so we need antioxidant for our hair and scalp, just like our skin. It also has sage extract, which helps to nourish and promote a healthy scalp environment. And it does have this really interesting blend of fragrances, and I'm into fragrances. So this gives you this very luxurious shower feel."

"The Pureology Hydrate Shampoo is more of a creamy shampoo that protects your hair color and helps to deeply moisturize at the same time. It contains jojoba oil, green tea, as well as sage extract that can stimulate your hair follicles."

"I'm gonna use my Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and conditioner. I bought big ones of these and then as part of that I got mini ones which is perfect because then I can just keep refilling these from the bigger bottle."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into a pore rather than just working on the surface. That is why it has long-standing evidence for blackheads and milder acne.
