What the gurus are saying

Dermatologists praise the Pulse Dye Laser as highly effective for vascular concerns, rosacea, and redness, often requiring two to six treatments depending on severity. Minimal downtime and no peeling are consistent perks. The consensus is it significantly outperforms IPL or BBL for these issues. One key note: slight bruising after treatment signals the laser worked, and strict sun avoidance and serum maintenance post-treatment are essential to prevent rosacea flare-ups that undo results.

"My favorite lasers, Pulse Dye Laser, only targets redness and does a fantastic job at targeting the blood vessels and those capillaries especially on your face, but it doesn't really have a lot of downtime. There's definitely no blisters, there's no peeling, none of that."

"The results are fantastic. Most of my patients do really really well with just two treatments spaced one month apart, sometimes I'll do a third treatment and then everyone does maintenance. The maintenance for the lasers is once a year, but the maintenance at home is your vitamin C or antioxidant serum every morning and sunscreen every single morning. This is my favorite laser by far. It's one of the ones we've had in a practice for seven or eight years now. It helps with redness, it helps with rosacea, and it is incredibly effective, way way way more effective than IPL or BBL for redness. I've seen it make a huge difference in any patient with a vascular concern. You can also treat those little cherry angiomas, the little red moles that you get on your body, and that's typically just one treatment."

"One of the really great laser therapies that we have for rosacea is the Pulse Dye Laser or PDL for short. This laser works by selectively targeting blood vessels and it basically zaps and closes the blood vessels without damaging surrounding skin structures. It usually takes, depending on how bad your rosacea is and how red you are, anywhere between four to six treatments to really get rid of that redness. It's really great for total facial flushing. It's great for little cherry angiomas, if you have certain little spots that are red. It's really great for telangiectasias or visible squiggly blood vessels. This laser is really great for those things. It is most effective if it causes a little bit of bruising at the day of treatment, that's how you know it works because it delivered enough energy to cause damage to those blood vessels. But you do have to be very careful not to go in the sun or have your rosacea flare up again because then that will basically counteract the effects of the laser and you'll be back to square one."
