What the gurus are saying

Gurus overwhelmingly praise this product for delivering visible brightening, smoothness, and texture improvement at an excellent price point and generous size. The formula's blend of multiple AHAs plus enzymes that break down dead skin buildup resonates particularly with those targeting congestion and body texture. The recurring caution is that 15% glycolic is potent and can tingle or irritate sensitive skin, especially in winter; reviewers advise patch testing and suggest it's better suited for body use than facial use for sensitive types. One reviewer found it too intense for winter face use but endorsed it as a body exfoliant.

"I will definitely be backing off the multi-acid peel by Prequel. This is actually a little bit too heavy duty for my sensitive skin in the winter, but definitely a great body peel body exfoliant. If your body can tolerate it, go for it."

Exfoliation 101: How To Find the Right Exfoliant for Your Mature Skin Type & Skin Needs
"This is called their multi-acid milk peel AHA exfoliating solution. It is a very intense, in my personal opinion, especially as someone with sensitive skin, 15% glycolic acid. This gives me a tingle. It also has phytic acid, malic acid, and lactic acid and enzymes and squalane. If you've never used glycolic acid before and you want to try it, but you want to acclimate your skin to it, you can use this as a wash off mask. You can leave it on for 10 seconds, 30 seconds, work your way up, but then wash it off."

"It's the Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel. I really enjoy this one. We've got 15% glycolic acid in here, as well as a couple of other different forms, gentler forms of AHA. There's also two different types of enzymes in here that don't necessarily exfoliate the skin, but they do aid in the skin cell turnover process by actually loosening up the glue or the keratin, that sticky thick sebum that holds onto the dead skin cells on your skin. I find this formula with the enzymes and the multi-acids to be particularly good for congestion-prone skin, which I do have. The enzymes give this formula a little bit of an edge for congestion and acne-prone skin."

"This is about 220 milliliters of AHA goodness. That is huge. Some of these products that I use with this amount of AHA are like 30 milliliter or 50 milliliter. So this really big size actually makes this really economical for body use. And that is why it's impressed me this month. I've actually been using this for especially for my back, the tops of my arms, my chest, and now that sandal season is starting to wind down, I'm starting to use this on my feet as well because AHA helps to exfoliate the top surface of skin. It's particularly good for any dead skin cell buildup like rough and calloused feet. It can definitely help to soften up those areas. It can also help to brighten up any uneven skin. I do find the skin on my back a little bit uneven, even on my feet, especially after sandal season. It also is great for helping to, for me personally, I find to resist the texture and congestion that I can get on my body, especially like the tops of my arms. I can get those little white bumps. This really helps to smooth those out and keep those at bay. I find a good strong AHA is a good maintenance product for me personally because a lot of the texture and breakouts that I get on my body is actually due to dry skin and that dead skin buildup."
Save MORE $$$ | Expensive Skincare DUPES (Drugstore Edition)
"The milk peel from Prequel costs $23 and you actually get 226 milliliters of product for that price. This is an AHA based product that uses 15% glycolic acid, and they're also bulking out that glycolic acid percentage with some other AHA forms including mandalic and lactic acid, phytic and malic acid. One thing that makes this one a little bit different in the formula is the enzymes they're using here, the lipases and the proteases. These are enzymes that actually help to break down the glue that holds the skin cells in place, like the dead skin cells. This is something that aids the chemical exfoliation process of the AHA mix here in the formula, so it's not blasting your skin with even more AHAs or BHAs or anything like that."

5 Tips to Boost Confidence | Chatty AM Skincare Routine
"I used this multi-acid milk peel from Prequel last night. It's an AHA peel, it's like 15% AHA, it's actually quite potent. I did it last night and I feel like my skin looks a little brighter. It feels a little bit smoother. And that's what I'm talking about with an outer glow up, you know, just a little sort of way to feel a little bit more confident in my skin without having to go for something really crazy, really expensive, really over the top."
I Tried 5 Prequel Skincare Products | Worth It for Sensitive Skin?
"I could feel it kind of working on my skin for about 20 minutes or so, and then afterwards, I didn't feel it anymore. And I didn't wake up with my skin feeling raw or irritated or anything. I actually when I woke up, my skin looks really smooth. It looks brighter. It has that rejuvenated effect that I have come to expect from a high percentage AHA type of product like this one. Yes, it was a little spicy when it was on my skin working on my skin, but the fact that it didn't push my skin too far and I got really nice results, this is something that I'm cautiously optimistic about."
December Fave Empties | Prequel, VT, Paula's Choice, Cetaphil, Unove, Questions for Reflection
"This is an AHA chemical exfoliation peel in a toner essence like format. It contains 15% glycolic acid and is a multi-acid milk peel with several different forms of AHA acid including phytic, malic, mandalic, and lactic acid. There are also enzymes in here including protease and lipase, which are important enzymes that help to loosen up the glue, the keratin, the sticky oil that holds on to the dead skin cells in our skin. We've got quite a bit of exfoliating action coming from the glycolic acid and the other acids that are resurfacing the top of the skin, getting rid of dead skin cells, smoothing out texture, helping the look of pores, helping with congestion and minor texture, and brightening and rejuvenating the skin. This is the one that I've used the most, the first one that I've emptied, and the one that I repurchased. I use it multiple times a week now. It is so so good."

"Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel has lactic acid as well as a few other alpha hydroxy acids. Feels, looks, performs the same. It's a very close dupe. It's a lightweight, fluid, very affordable. $23 for 7.6 ounces. So instead of paying $122 for 1.7 oz, you pay $23 for 7.6 oz. It will last you longer and your wallet will thank you."

"If you are someone who can tolerate something like a 15% multi-acid peel, get it. Otherwise, skip it. You don't want to risk a broken skin barrier, but if you can tolerate it, this is a 10 on 10. And I've never given anything a 10 on 10."

"This new one from Prequel has been really cool. This is the multi-acid milk peel. It's an AHA exfoliating solution. It has a blend. It helps improve skin texture, clarity, radiance without irritation. Comes in a giant bottle. It's really nice. You can use it on your face, neck, chest, really entire body if you wanted to. It has a really nice blend of glycolic, phytic, malic, mandelic, lactic. The glycolic in here is 15% compared to the ordinary, which is only seven. So glycolic is a smaller molecule. It's going to penetrate deeper. So this is going to be significantly a little bit spicier, like more potent than the ordinary. If you're new to exfoliating acids, I would not start here, but follow the directions on here. It's very milky. Like the description really fits the product. I do still think that this is good for sensitive or even dry skin types. But if you are in that category, make sure you test spot first. The way I use this exfoliating acid is apply it on a cotton round, apply it to my face, neck, chest, any other areas you want to, and then apply my moisturizer and I sleep like that. Wake up in the morning and the skin is hydrated, smooth, just perfect."

"It's 15% glycolic acid, so it's a little spicy when you first apply it, but if you have dull or crepey skin, this will level you up so quickly. I like to apply it right after the shower on clean, dry skin, just like a body serum. You do not need to rinse it off. And then I follow almost immediately with a body lotion. I do this about two times a week."

Blur Pores and Texture With These Makeup Hacks for Oily Skin | Dr. Sam Ellis
"This is my skincare brand. Our multi-acid milk peel has 15% glycolic acid plus a mixture of other alpha hydroxy acids. And what was really cool about this product when we did the clinical testing is that in 100% of the participants when they applied this to their facial skin for just 4 weeks, they all had a reduction in their visible pore size. And this wasn't a consumer perception study where they just say, "Oh, it's my opinion that my pores look smaller." No, on camera, everyone's pores measured smaller. Now, as a dermatologist, I will be the first person to tell you that you cannot permanently shrink your pore size, but you can do so temporarily by regularly exfoliating the pores and letting them clear out because that oil and dead skin cells that get trapped in your pores can stretch them over time. So, if you're just trying to stay on top of your oiliness and your pores in general, incorporating this into your skincare routine a couple of nights a week could be really beneficial. A lot of people say they put it on at night and then they wake up in the morning with sort of that glass skin and that's because everything has sort of cleared out and tightened up."
I’m Changing How My Patients Do Anti-Aging Skincare (5 Key Upgrades) | Dr. Sam Ellis
"I love my Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel. It's 15% glycolic acid, which can be used on the face, but I think is even better utilized sometimes on the body after your shower a couple times a week. Applying that everywhere will make your skin so soft, so smooth. And when you do this consistently over the course of months, you will notice that your skin is more supple as well."
10 Tricks to Look WAY Prettier (That No One Talks About) | Dr. Sam Ellis
"My Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel has been an absolute game changer for my body exfoliation. This is 15% glycolic acid. So this is pretty spicy and not everyone is going to be able to use it on their face, but it is a huge bottle and I actually find myself reaching for it even more for my body because not only is it going to help exfoliate off dead skin cells, but glycolic acid also helps boost collagen over time, it helps with crepey skin. So it gives you like an instant glow, but it has long-term benefits as well. And this is super easy to use. I literally just dump it into my hands and then I will rub it all over my upper body and then I'll dump it again and I'll do my right leg, my left leg. Use this on your feet as well if you just want smooth heels and it's going to sting a little bit. It'll feel a little spicy for probably a minute and you might even feel a little itchy with it. That is the exfoliation in process and then it will settle. Yes, you can use this on your face. It is meant for both. But if you have super sensitive skin, you might want to go with a glycolic acid cleanser instead of this. But the number of DMs I've gotten about this product being like, 'Oh my gosh, when I use this and I wake up in the morning, my skin is next level gorgeous.'"

"I apply this from my collar bones down my entire body. Although I'm not quite at the point in my life where I have a lot of crepey or saggy skin, I do feel like it has really helped with my skin firmness and the overall texture, especially for the little bumps on my arms and on my thighs. For my patients who do have more mature skin, they've reported that it has helped so much with the smoothness and the quality of their skin. If you have not tried using this on your body, I highly recommend."
STOP This Now—Your Anti-Aging Routine Depends on It | Dr. Sam Ellis
"I love my Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel. This has 15% glycolic acid so it's a more intense exfoliant, but if you use it with less frequency you're not going to overdo it. Really the key here is that exfoliation in moderation is going to give you the best skin."
10 Anti-Aging Skincare Routine UPGRADES! | Dr. Sam Ellis
"I was so excited for us to launch our Multi-Acid Milk Peel. I decided to create that because when I have patients come into my office and they want to level up their anti-aging skincare routine, adding an exfoliation step is low hanging fruit that most people can tolerate. And this milk peel is beautiful because it's 15% glycolic acid so you're getting true rigorous exfoliation, but then it has a gentle blend of other acids and that really nice supportive milky formula so it's not too irritating. What a lot of people don't know about glycolic acid is that it's not just an exfoliant, it's also a humectant that helps the skin hold on to water and it helps stimulate collagen, so it's anti-aging in so many ways. I like to use this on my face and my body, and even though I have rosacea, I don't feel like it flares it, which is a huge problem with other acids for me. So I have been so excited to have this product in the Prequel arsenal."

"I use retinoids and exfoliants together in my skincare regimen. I will use my tretinoin usually five to six nights a week and then on those off nights if my skin is feeling okay, which usually it is, I will go in with my Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel. This has multiple exfoliating acids in it and it's actually pretty potent, but I love what it does to my skin. I have that tretinoin working in the background on the collagen production and then I have the multi-acid milk peel giving me that immediate glow. And when I follow that routine up with a good moisturizer, my skin does just fine."
Stop Dullness: How to Use AHAs for Real Radiance | Dr. Sam Ellis
"I love our Prequel Multi-Acid Milk Peel. It's 15% glycolic acid and then it also contains a few other alpha hydroxy acids, but it also contains squalane which helps it be more moisturizing and barrier supportive. So it allows you to tolerate a high potency of glycolic acid without irritation. I also like that it's only $23 and it comes in a huge bottle so you can use it on your face and your body and not feel guilty about it."

"I usually exfoliate once a week but I found with this milk peel I'm actually using it twice a week not only because it's gentle enough to do that but because the glow that I have the next morning is so good. I like to apply this at night right after I've cleansed my face. I usually take like two shakes of this and then I will rub it between my palms and then press it into my face and then bring it down to my neck and my chest. I love that when I apply it it absorbs really easily and it leaves this very nice little veil on the skin but I can move on with the next steps in my skincare pretty much immediately. You can also apply it to a cotton ball or a cotton round and swipe it over the areas that you want to treat and the next day you will wake up with the most radiant glowy skin. I also love applying this peel on the body so many people think about exfoliation when it comes to the face but if you have texture or dullness on your body skin use this there too. On the nights that I'm using this exfoliator on my face I skip my topical retinoid so I'm not doing two heavy hitters at once."
