What the gurus are saying

Experts split on this one. The serum uses ethyl ascorbic acid, a gentler form of vitamin C, but dermatologists flag that mandarin peel and rose extracts are skin sensitizers, and kakadu plum breaks down too quickly to be stable. One user reported visible glow after five months, though pigmentation remained. The heavy essential oil content troubles experts most, as it can trigger contact dermatitis in 3 to 4% of people. Those with sensitive skin may want to patch-test first.

"In here they've gone in with the correct form of vitamin C, they've gone with ethyl ascorbic acid, so that's a derivative, it's not going to be irritating to the skin. They have, however, used mandarin peel extract, which is a sensitizer to the skin. And then they've gone in with kakadu plum, which breaks down too quickly, it's not a stable form of vitamin C. And then they've gone in with rose extract, which is also a skin sensitizer. This is not actually the greatest of products, it started off well, but I think I would give this a maximum 7 out of 10. I wouldn't use it on my own face."

"This one is a naysafe product. I don't think it's an ideal product. I do like the price point, but there are better things on the market. So, for me, this is no."

"This one is a nay. Safe product, I don't think it's an ideal product. I do like the price point but there are better things on the market. It's very fragrant, a lot of essential oils, which can lead to contact dermatitis in 3 to 4% of the population. Even though that doesn't sound like a lot, if you think about half a million people watching my videos every day, 3 to 4% of people getting reactions because of something I'm recommending, that means tens of thousands of people a day, which I can't do. So I'm never going to recommend anything with essential oils in it."
