What the gurus are saying

The experts who reviewed it praise the serum for combining hydration with brightening power, noting it works well for those battling slow-building pigmentation and can do double duty as a moisturizer or even eye treatment. However, the active ingredients are formulated at higher concentrations, so anyone with sensitive skin may want to patch-test first and potentially ease off to a few times a week, since stronger formulations can sometimes feel too intense.

"The Pillow Talk Durham Hyper Serum is one that's a little bit more moisturizing. They both have glycerin but this seems to have a little bit more glycerin. This also has dilucosal gallic acid which helps fight redness and it also is slightly skin perfecting along with having alpha arbutin, niacinamide, and kojic acid. So this is a lovely serum if you want something a little heavier weight and this is lovely for fighting pigment. If I weren't going to be using a moisturizer this morning I would definitely choose this one."

"If it is due to pigmentation that has gotten slowly worse over time and you really don't have any genetic predispositions you want to look for products like the Pillow Talk Durham hyper serum which is a serum that has brightening ingredients. What are the brightening ingredients? Kojic acid, arbutin, licorice root, a little bit of niacinamide can help and even the hydration through the glycerin can make a big difference. This is not a dedicated eye cream but a serum for the rest of the face that is moisturizing and can also double up in fact as an eye cream. This way you get the double bang for your buck: you're not only brightening but you're also going to be hydrating."

"The hyper Serum by Pillow Talk Durham is a multi-ingredient story. I understand why it's tricky for you as the consumer because you have to have an understanding of the brand and a good relationship and honestly trust with the brand to know that they're giving you ingredients not just that claim value but at actual levels of efficacy. Very honestly hyper Serum is at higher levels and if you're sensitive it may be too strong but always worth a test and a patch test."
