What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen delivers a noticeably dewy, glowy finish that leaves skin smooth, but the formula struggles with longevity on some skin types. It started to pill midafternoon for one reviewer, which may matter if you need all-day wear without touch-ups. The hydrating texture works well for those seeking that luminous look without heaviness.

✓Yay
"It is a little bit darker than the iNNBEAUTY PROJECT one, so if you're really fair-skinned maybe don't do this one. It is super glowy, gives you that natural glow, leaving your skin really smooth and dewy. It hydrates, protects with SPF 45, and will also blur out some of the imperfections. With this natural tint, it will leave your skin really plump and radiant. If you're somebody who wants a no-makeup makeup look, like you just want a little glow, little hydration, this is perfect for that."
✓Mixed
"It might be just a little bit too much of a glowy finish for some of you. As far as wear, I only gave it a two out of five because I was so disappointed it started to pill midafternoon. [...] It would be really hard to reapply sunscreen over it. It did pill. I tried it twice and it pilled each time. The less that I put on it peeled less, but I was really surprised that this product pilled the way it did."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
