What the gurus are saying

One guru found it a solid hydrating product that smooths and plumps skin, and works well as a makeup prep or standalone essence. However, another expert notes it delivers straightforward hydration without novel benefits, and flags that the colostrum is largely marketing rather than proven to help skin. Both agree it hydrates well. Those with dogs in the home may want to keep it safely stored, since it contains xylitol, which is unsafe for pets.

"Colostrum is an interesting ingredient because lab studies show that it contains growth factors and bioactive proteins that can support that skin cell regeneration, can also assist with wound healing, and offer some protection against UV related damage. However, clinical research in humans is still limited. So, while the science is promising, interesting, and exciting, we definitely still need more well-designed studies to really understand its everyday benefits in skincare on human skin. I've been really enjoying this ampule as a prep step before makeup for smoother application and also as a refreshing mist during the day to revive my skin and my makeup. I also really like to bring this on the plane with me or throw it in my bag because it is so travel friendly. It's actually really fun to spritz on like and then it just dries down."

"This has been one of the more popular products in the K-beauty scene this year and I honestly really like it. This is capitalizing on colostrum, which is an animal-derived ingredient that is supposed to have a whole host of benefits for the skin that can help with all the processes that make your skin look more youthful, to help with skin texture, quality, tone, all of that. But there's actually some other more interesting ingredients in my personal opinion in this, like ingredients including Syn-ake. This is a peptide that can actually boost the synthesis of hyaluronic acid within the skin. So this is actually a peptide that helps your skin stay hydrated. It hydrates the skin and helps it stay hydrated for longer. And then it's also formulated in a way that helps to smooth out the skin, hydrate the skin, plump the skin. It's particularly good to use in a skincare routine or prior to makeup. You can put it on almost like a primer, like a makeup prep spray. You can also set your makeup with it. And then again, if you're not a makeup user, you could actually just use this like a spray-on essence or toner."

"Like I said, this product is really popular right now. People are probably hyping it up left and right. And I am here to hopefully deinfluence you a bit. I can't say that this is a complete wash, a complete gimmick. I was fine, right? Like it's hydrating, it's nice, it's lightweight, but it's nothing novel. And the colostrum is just part of the storytelling of this. Like I said, it is an SEO hijack. It doesn't mean that there's any established track record of it being beneficial for the skin. But it's not a bad product. It does what it's supposed to do, what you would expect it to do, but it's not magical. It's not magical. It's just another hydrating liquid. This time we're misting it on our face."
