What the gurus are saying

The gurus who tested it praise how well it dissolves makeup and water-resistant sunscreen without fuss, and note it's especially gentle around the eyes since the balm texture minimizes tugging that can stress lashes. One expert highlighted the nourishing blend of omega fatty acids and plant oils. The formula is straightforward rather than loaded with exotic ingredients, but that plainness is part of what makes it reliable and easy to tolerate on sensitive areas. To use it, spread the balm on dry skin, massage gently, add a little water to emulsify, then rinse and follow with a regular cleanser.

"Paula's Choice Omega Plus Complex Cleansing Balm is a non-nonsense effective, pleasurable to use, fragrance-free cleansing balm that helps melt away cosmetic residue and water-resistant sunscreen. It's a great option for eye makeup removal because in my experience, using a cleansing balm can help condition the lashes and cut down on the rubbing that can lead to breakage and lash fragility. It's easy to tolerate around the eyes. You spread it on the skin surface, massage it in, and then with just a little bit of water it will emulsify and rinse off the skin surface, and then you can wash your face as normal. It's not super sexy or anything and doesn't have any exotic ingredients, but it gets the job done and it's a great formula."

"This is a great cleansing balm if you are a fan of double cleansing, which I personally love. I love this balm for a couple reasons. Number one, it's got great ingredients: Omega 3, 6, and 9 as well as jojoba oil and other plant ingredients to help nourish the skin. With the texture and formulation, it is wonderful and gentle but yet effectively able to dissolve the waterproof makeup that I wear on a regular basis as well as the layers of sunscreen and water-resistant sunscreen that I often reapply on my skin throughout the day. This is pretty rich and creamy, and I do find that it tends to leave a little bit of residue. So with that said, I don't think it's great if you're looking for a one-stop shop cleanser to use. If you only want to pick one cleanser, there are certainly other cleansing balms I find that leave minimal residue that I think can be used alone. But this one, because it leaves a little bit more residue, is great for double cleansing. The first step of double cleansing you definitely want to follow up with a water-based cleanser afterwards. But in general, I think it's great for removing makeup, first step of double cleansing, and for those with more dry skin."
