What the gurus are saying

This serum's dual retinoid formula (retinaldehyde plus a novel form of adapalene) breaks the acne-to-hyperpigmentation cycle for people prone to congestion and breakouts, with reviewers seeing dark marks fade after four to five months. Anti-aging benefits take longer and require consistency. Some suggest acne-prone people might explore other options first, though reviewers overall call it their favorite retinoid serum.

"[Paula's Choice] Pro Retinaldehyde Dual Retinoid Treatment. I've been using this consistently since 2024 and in the two plus years I've been using it, it has genuinely transformed my skin. The secret is the two retinoids. Retinaldehyde for collagen stimulation. This is great as a preventative strategy at 37. Keeping that collagen structure strong resists the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, but can also improve the look of existing ones. It also brightens up your skin and it helps to clean out your pores. The second retinoid is adapalene. This is a novel form of adapalene and this helps to further increase the benefits for clearing out the pores, addressing congestion and helping to meaningfully target inflammation on the skin. This is good if you are prone to acne, which I am, prone to congestion, which I am. This helps to keep those breakouts at bay. So, this formula has not only addressed all my well-aging concerns, it's cleared out my skin and allowed me to address hyperpigmentation, which makes my skin appear much more bright and even and glowy. Right now, I've been using this product between four to five nights a week. As my skin gets drier in the colder months and we move further into fall, I will pull that back slightly depending on how my skin is feeling."

EMPTY ALERT! Paula's Choice Retinaldehyde Dual Retinoid Treatment Review
"This product really has transformed my skin in a way I really did not expect it to because you know I'm thinking something like this yes like I said rooted in prevention for the well-agging journey but also because I do get congestion and breakouts you know I'm looking for clearer skin and it definitely delivered on clearer skin but what I did not expect it to deliver on is chiller skin when your skin does get congested"

The Skincare I Actually Credit for How My Skin Looks at 37
"The Paula's Choice Retinaldehyde Dual Retinoid Treatment is my product of choice for collagen stimulation. I've been using this since 2024 and it's giving me excellent results. It actually contains two retinoids, retinaldehyde and a precursor to adapalene, which specifically targets inflamed congestion and breakouts inside the pore lining. I'm personally prone to congestion, inflammation, and pimples, and when I get an inflamed pimple I'm often left with a dark mark that can take weeks to months to fade. This product really broke that cycle for me because it meaningfully helped clear out my skin, and once I brightened up my skin it stayed bright overall. I've been using it consistently since 2024 and I have not stopped."
8 Years of Skincare Testing These Are the Only 10 Products I'd Keep
"I started using this in the summer of 2024 when it first released. It contains retinaldehyde plus another retinoid, a novel form of adapalene, which is particularly good at targeting inflammation in the pore lining and at targeting congestion and acne, which has been one of my main skin concerns. Once I started using it, that additional retinoid really helped target the inflammation, so I'd still get breakouts sometimes but they didn't get as inflamed as they used to, which meant less of the dark mark hyperpigmentation my skin gets after inflammation. As I continued using it, my texture and congestion went down and the inflammation went away, so my skin got clearer and I could finally start meaningfully fading the hyperpigmentation without creating new marks. By four to five months in, my skin was not only clear but brighter than it had been in years. It has actually just really solved so many problems I struggled with for so many years in one bottle, it's a really smart formula, particularly if you're going through those issues like I was."
I Ranked Every Product I Emptied This Summer | Honest Reviews
"My number one serum is the Paula's Choice Pro Retinaldehyde Dual Retinoid Treatment. I've been using it since August of 2024 without stopping, and I keep buying it and using it consistently because it has made the biggest difference in my skin, probably the biggest difference in my skin this decade. It's retinaldehyde plus a second retinoid called adapinoid, a novel form of adapalene, and together they stimulate collagen and help with fine lines and wrinkles while the second retinoid is particularly good for inflamed impurities like acne and congestion, which has been my skin struggle for a long time. This product broke the cycle of pimples turning into hyperpigmentation for me."
These Skincare Ingredients Are Overhyped. Here's What to Use Instead.
"This is the retinoid product I personally use for going on 2 years for all of my anti-aging concerns and my collagen stimulating ingredient of choice. I'm prone to congestion and inflamed acne, and this formula is very good for inflamed pimples. It has really helped to clear out my skin, address texture, brighten up my skin, and it has been very great as a collagen stimulating ingredient. I'm comfortable recommending this because I have over 2 years of experience using this and it has done a lot for my skin in one bottle."
